I'm presently downloading the PC version from Steam. The download just went live about 5 minutes ago for USA gamers.

I might get this Mafia but I have two games on the back burner (Afro Samurai and Army of Two) not to mention Beowulf which turned out to be a stinker (good thing I only got it for 15 bucks) so I might have to wait a little before I get round to playing this. It seems good from what I've read and heard of it so far.

I've played for about 2 hours now and am really enjoying it! I only stopped because, for some odd reason, FRAPS isn't working with this full game but it did work with the demo. And, both were downloaded from Steam. So, I'm trying to figure out how to get the screenshots working.

I'm playing in a 3x1 Eyefinity @ 3x1920x1080 and the game is very fluid.

HOWEVER, due to using an ATI card, I have NOT enabled the Physx option.

EDIT: OK, FRAPS is now working. Seems it took a restart of the system to get things settled. So, expect some screenshots soon.

how is the game.. is it nice enough without PhysX. are you able to shoot through boxes etc?
I mean, all the things they say you need PhysX for, is that really PhysX only?

It is definitely nice enough without the Physx ... at least IMHO. I'm quite enjoying the game and the story development.

BUT.....

I just had a really serious problem with the game.

The entire right half of the screen starting going full white and there were streaks of vertical white at the midway point of the screen. I was driving a truckload of smokes with Joe and the game was acting like it was going to crash on me. I could not get the truck to stop at all. But, my FPS dropped to 2 - 4 FPS but kept at 3 FPS mostly.

I finally had to bring up the Task Manager and End Task on the game.

This is the first glitch I've had since starting the game and I'm in Chapter 7 now. So, I kind of wonder if it's similar to the "memory leak" problem like in Far Cry 2?

Played the demo on my 360, enjoyed it so much so I bought it for PC. Some decent deals on ebay.

Right now I am on the 3rd chapter , while the city has great details and the cutscenes are great. I think the game would have been better with more polish, the AI needs to be smarter and animation needs to be more fluid but overall I am satisfied until now.

The game AI is just plain stupid. It's the main gripe I have with the game.

Other than that, I'm close to finishing it and have enjoyed the way the story plays out.

Finished the game last night on my PS3. Make sure you play this game on hard or else it's simply to easy. I really liked it, it has a fine story and some likable main characters, plus some great details.

It's not an perfect game and I played better open-world games, but it's worth the buy, even though it's a bit short.

I haven't quite finished it yet. And, I'm not a 'hurry up and finish the game' type game player, either. But, I've got 15 hours of play time in it so far and am at the last chapter.

Took me almost 18 hours on medium. I did some free roaming in between missions, sometimes just to have the result of my free roaming nullified a mission down the road or an accidental death, but it was fun nonetheless. Once I had to restart a chapter from the beginning because of a late mission trigger glitch, but that was the only major problem I encountered in the game so I can't say it was bad considering.

The game steadily got better and better as it progressed.

16 hours here on hard, but still got some replay of certain chapters to do, plus some magazines and wanted posters to find.

The game could have been potentaily GOTY but they did cut many part of the game, they are too much to say but this post sum what happenen , I feel a bit cheated.

the writer and lead designer in mafia I and II , he support a petetion to release "the full game" by 2k. And call what happened "Prime massacre" , he also say he won't involve in further devlopment. FYI, some of the features were confirmed during interviews but they aren;t available in the final game. Even a full mission , that were showed in gamescom didn't make it.
some of hackers were digging around in the gamecode and found some multiplayer related code and even more here

Screw publisher's greed , man. Another franchise screwed after Command & conquer and many others.

Finally finished the game a few moments ago.

Don't want to give away the ending, but, I did think it was very "Mafia-like."

All-in-all, though, I really did enjoy playing the game and will play it again soon.
