F1 2010
First of all, I've only played it for a day since I've been to busy watching the real thing on TV, so I don't have much to go on but I want to give some quick thoughts on what I think.
I love these type of games, racing simulators. I can't call the first Pit Stop games to C64 simulators really but that's where it started. I've owned and played all the F1 GP versions, and this really is an improvement on the last GP4 in every possible way. The feeling is awesome on my 20" LCD. I will try it on my 40" LED TV as well and I'm sure it will be even greater. I can feel the speed and when there is 23 other cards around you on the start straight my heart pumped and raced like crazy. I've only tried the default "medium" setting so far, that means automatic gear shift and a suggested line on the track. In this mode it's fairly easy to drive around at a good pace. I managed to be at the top in all three practice runs, I took pole in qualify and I won the race. Full lengt all of it. This in a Lotus that supposedly is not near as good as the McLarens, Red Bulls and Ferraris. What does that tell me? I know I'm a good driver, I have real life experience, but I don't think I'm that good. This means that the AI drivers aren't that blazingly fast in "medium". Gonna try a higher difficulty and see if this is true or not. Overall I'm very impressed. You do spin if you hit the throttle to soon on a curb, if you're to late on the brakes you overshoot and if you do you will feel a lower grip outside the race line and so on. I definately like it so far, hopefully it will be a real challenge with higher difficulty. |

Re: F1 2010
Damn friggin game!
Just started it up and what do you know... all my progress is gone, I have to start all over. I truly hate when these things happen.. why is there only autosave, why can't I select a save myself so I can make sure there is a backup avaliable? If this happens again I'm gonna return it, this is NOT good. |

Re: F1 2010
Aparently it's a known bug according to the codemaster forum.. not that it helps me get my 2 full completed races back :P

Re: F1 2010
ok, what controls are you guys using ?
i'm using a 360 pad ok, and i can't find a control layout that's comfortable & that works for me. i'm pretty much ambidextrous when it comes to these things, so how do you guys have things set-up ?? maybe somebody else's setup will actually work for me

Re: F1 2010
I'm using my old Thrustmaster Modena 360 Wheel. It's not one of the officially supported wheels but I configured it myself and it works just perfect. The only thing missing is force feedback for that extra real feel but since it doesn't support that anyway there's nothing I can do about it.
A game like this is ment for a wheel. I can't imagine a pad comes even close to the feel of a good wheel. |

Re: F1 2010
I tried another thing tonight. I hooked up to my Samsung 3D TV and ran the game at 1920x1080 and turned the TV's 2D to 3D conversion and it was absolutely amazing, it really worked well and gave a bit of extra feel to the game.

Re: F1 2010
Is the game playable (meaning the support being really good) with a gamepad? A "wheel" is not an option for me.

Re: F1 2010
You can also enable unofficial DX11 mode by editing the ini file under DX-9=false
also this game doesnt seem to run well under sli/crossfire in dx11 mode so to fix that use radeon pro or nhancer and enable the dirt 2 profile

Re: F1 2010
Since I have no gamepad I can't say. I've watched a few clips on youtube that I guess are played with gamepads and the steering doesn't seem as smooth as it could be with a wheel.

Re: F1 2010
I did that but I didn't really see much of a difference. Though, it might just have changed it back when I started the game, I have to check that.

Re: F1 2010
I'm finding more and more bugs in this game and some of them are affecting the realism in a really bad way. AI cars can easily slipstream, you can't. Race with fuel sim turned on, AI cars still drive around with low fuel and you'll see them all pass you on the start. That's just two examples.
No DNF's either. Doesn't matter how much an AI car crashes, he just goes on like nothing. |
