Any LAN-enabled games in recent years?

Me and my LAN buddies are sadly getting so old that we're merely playing on a yearly basis now it seems, but a part of the problem is with most game houses frowning upon the LAN gaming feature altogether. The next weekend we will probably end up playing mostly Call of Duty 4, then maybe a little light strategy in World in Conflict(lack of base building makes things a lot easier for non-strategists). There are older games that could be worth revisisting, but we really don't want to play even older games than these two. Is there anything out there worth trying in the ways of shooters or lighter strategy? Somethinig Co-op would be ideal since we're likely to get down to 4-5 people at times. I've read some guide about tweaking the network settings to allow for Left 4 Dead 2 in LAN mode and that sounds like great fun, but it's a lot of work for a 4-player max game that has to be undone when a fifth guy shows up.

Any ideas?

Haven't used Hamachi before but perhaps it's worth a try with CoD:World at War. Those Zombie modes sounds like fun.

...... lol that's us here too

left for dead, and Borderlands are pretty fun, there are some pretty simple tutorials if you dont know how to activate some games via Lan , using Hamachi. If you get a step by step tutorial it should take you ~30min.

Then there is Garena: Garena - Connecting world gamers

which is a site that offers among other things a virtual lan environment over the net, just google the tuts and u'll find one

we had a thread few months back, actually close to a year now where we were discussing this stuff, do a search and maybe it'll help

Re: Any LAN-enabled games in recent years?

We've played some Flatout 2 before, which is a great fun game with a bit easier controls. Most of the others aren't that much for racing but there's always Destruction Derby for some quick fun.
Was away for the weekend, thanks for the tips!

Re: Any LAN-enabled games in recent years?

i would say borderlands, it was a cool game for two people it took us 3 days to finish continuously, it can unfortunately take only 4 players!

Re: Any LAN-enabled games in recent years?

Rainbow six Vegas maybe or Vegas 2? I've only played with three people but think it can take up to 6 or more. Not sure if that's getting to old or not but... Ghost Recon AW2 as well but that's getting kind of dated now too. Just some suggestions I guess.
