Witcher 2 pre order

Far better offer than anywhere else IMO, at GOG.com, same price as elsewhere, but, DRM free, and a free game from GOG.com and if not from the USA, some store credit.

Seriously good offer.

Re: Witcher 2 pre order

I'm seriously looking forward to this game! I've played through the original SEVEN times and would do it again except I really need to vary my game-playing. LOL!

Re: Witcher 2 pre order

I got the email today from Witcher.com encouraging me to pre-order from GOG.com.

But, as much as I'm looking forward to this game, it kind of rubs me the wrong way to be "begging" for pre-orders six months before the game is even scheduled to be released.

I don't mind all the hype and hoopla and revelations as to what their plans are and some insight into what the game is going to be like.

BUT, there's a whole LOT that can happen in the next six months and there have been so many OTHER games that had scheduled release dates that got pushed back....and back....and back even more.

So, I really am not comfortable with this "begging" for pre-orders. Is it any indication that they're running low on funds to be able to complete the game?

It just has the wrong feel for me. I'd be very, very happy to pre-order a month ahead of release, but not this far off in advance.

It isn't begging, though it is solicitation. They're trying to secure as many purchases as possible. If it takes six months, all the better.

The game will be pirated on the very first day of its release. People are less likely to buy it if there's a pirated copy at their fingertips. By offering preorders so early, they are counting on people's wavering willpower for a few extra purchases. And they need this after having stated they'll wage a legal war against pirates, which was incredibly dumb, since now they'll pirate it just for piracy's sake.

The CE is available for £69.99 with free delivery. I will be ordering that. For my wife. I don't much care for The Witcher.

Besides, the preorder doesn't cost you anything (at GOG).

Do I have to pay for The Witcher 2 immediately when I preorder it on GOG.com?
No! Signing up for a preorder on GOG.com won't cost you a penny. When the game becomes available we will inform you about that fact and you'll be able to purchase it on GOG.com just like any other game.
Can I cancel my The Witcher 2 preorder?
It isn't possible to cancel the The Witcher 2 preorder, however preordering it on our site doesn't require you to purchase the game on our site, or at all. You will not be charged when the game is released. We would be more than happy should you wish to purchase this game from us eventually, though.
I'll definitely be ordering the physical UK version though, since I know my wife would absolutely HATE the US version's censorship.

Re: Witcher 2 pre order

Exactly, as you probably has seen by now, the game is available for pre order on most (all?) online retailers/digita eh shops. You are annoyed that there is an email regarding the gog version. While I haven't received any such email yet (naturally) , I don't see why it is such a problem. You signed up for emails from Witcher.com and you don't expect them to tell you it is now available for pre-order?
Besides, the company behind both gog and witcher are the same company so of course they try to promote their own version.
Also, if you preorder the version from gog, you can do it for free (you have to lol) and you only give them money on release day, not before. So there is no money for development or anything.
I just think you're too worked out for nothing. Just like my post now lol.

I just think it's way too soon to be "soliciting" -- my word, "begging" -- for pre-orders when there could be any number of reasons for it to be delayed. Two months before release would be more fitting. At least in my own way of thinking.

As I said previously, I have no problem with them releasing information about the game, proper. But, the pre-order situation seems just way too premature in my book.

You have to realize that, when one gets to be my age [62] you don't even feel comfortable buying green bananas.
