Classic type adventure games?
Aren't there any modern games of the type of the classic adventure/problem solving games like Flashback, Another World or Beneath a Steel Sky?
With modern hardware that type of games could be incredible. |

Re: Classic type adventure games?
Eh, first of all you need to decide which type of game, because Flashback and Another World are not classic Adventure games.
Still, if you want similar games, modern games, then you would be looking at the third person action-adventure games. There are indeed some amazing ones, but first you need to tell me the platform you are interested in. Beneath a Steel Sky is a classic adventure type, there are some made even today, though obviously not many. I guess for PC, then...first of all, there are remakes and new versions of Secret of Monkey Island. New versions of Sam and Max. New version of Broken Sword, and several other. If you go to gog.com you can download a free version of beneath a steel sky and lure of the temptress, IIRC. For the rest, you can buy them from steam, gamersgate, etc. An easy list, if you want to buy, is this Point-and-Click - GamersGate I don't play them much any more, but they sure have great graphics compared to the past.

Re: Classic type adventure games?
I mean for PC. I have all those old games on my Amiga(s) so it's not those I'm interested in, it's the more modern versions of them.
My point is, I'm not to keen on the RPG's with all the killing and blood, I want more of the adventure style. NWN was decent but still not quite what I want, still to much killing and to little problem solving. Yes, you're right, Flashback and Another world aren't quite Adventures, BASS and Future wars are though, but it's more the style I prefer... just with modern graphics and harder problems. Perhaps I'm one of very few that like these types of games but I can't be all alone! |

Well, most of the games I linked to above are your type.

Re: Classic type adventure games?
You are and you are wrong about them, look beyond the box shots.

Re: Classic type adventure games?
Did you ever play the Syberia series? If not, go NOW and get them! I played them when they first came out and then again just last year. The story and the graphics are still top-notch for this type of game. They are the "point n click" and puzzle solving that you're looking for.
I read that there was a Syberia III in the works but haven't seen or read any updates lately. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Classic type adventure games?
Syberia is probably the best modern adventure game although it is a few years old now. Other good ones are the Black Mirror series and Lost Horizon.
Adventure Gamers is a good site for these games. |

Re: Classic type adventure games?
These two are quite old, but have a look at The Longest Journey and on "slightly" different theme Sanitarium.

Re: Classic type adventure games?
There is one Sam & Max episode available for free on Steam. I'm not sure if that's exactly what you are looking for (it's goofy cartoonish stuff), but it's pure point and click as well as short and free, so you can try it to see if Sam & Max are after your taste.
