Re: Alienware/ps3 connection

the ps3 don't have a 3.5mm Audio input so it won't go direct.I have the Slim so the only outputs are HDMI and Optical Audio out..

But as i don't know how you have set up the ps3 for audio is not easy to answer with very little info.

The only options i can think of atm is to use the 3.5mm output from the tv or an amplifier...

Re: Alienware/ps3 connection

If it were a USB Headset then there would possibly be a small (Very Small) chance of working.

But as the PS3 don't have any other input ports other than the two usb's then i highly doubt there is a way to get it to work...

Headsets need an amp at least to work....

The only option would be a (PS3) Bluetooth compatible headset. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_...dset&x=16&y=20

Im in the uk..so my links may not be helpful. Which Country ?

TBH i still doubt even with an USB adapter the headset still won't work...! (Unless some one else knows)

EDIT: Looking around a hardware store i use it don't appear to be any adapter of this type...at least i can not find one...

As i gave you a link above its going to be Only PS3 Compatible headsets that only support the ps3...(Bluetooth Support)

Re: Alienware/ps3 connection

the usb solution will work, however you will only get mic in with it, no audio out over the usb snd card. you will have to plug headphone 3.5 mm jack into the audio out on your tv.
refer here

Can you use USB Headphones with PS3? - PlayStation.com Forums

and

YouTube - PS3 surround sound headphones

disregard the chatter at end of vid about 5.1 and 2.1 snd, anything thru the 3.5 mm on your tv will be 2.0 stereo.

if your hdmi runs to a reciever and then hdmi to ps3, with your snd coming from reciever, you will need to use the reciever to plug the headphones into, with the mic jack still running to the usb snd card on ps3 for talk.

Interesting find and thanks for posting the links..

I never thought a USB S/C would be compatible..
