Opened Steam to find it was download 2 patchs for Black Ops that were each 4.5GB??? Is anyone elses doing this?

That is a ridiculous size for a patch/ why are they patching the SP (4.5gb for SP and 4.5gb for MP) ?

I only noticed it was downloading when i got the notification saying it was complete. Hopped straight into the game hoping it would fix the damned graphical spikes i'm STILL Having despite the patch, And it's just made them worse.

At the minute i'm sending christ knows how many emails a day demanding my money back from Treyarch for this buggy piece of shit.

FWIW, I just booted up CoD:BO on my 360 and there was no patch at all since I finished the game some time ago. Granted, this is on the console, but, it's still a bit strange.

Sounds to me like Steam messed up somewhere.

sometimes Steam displays massive download but is only actually downloading part of it. Like steam is making sure all other files are there too

I booted up Steam yesterday and Black Ops downloaded a couple of 60MB patches for MP & SP as was shown on the Black Ops news page. But definatly no 4.5GB patches.

I've had this before to, the update just zooms through the first 90% of the download (like it's checking you have everything) then actually downloads the last bit (the patch).

I've also suffered with the full download patch on a couple of games though. X3 re-downloaded the full game when a major patch came out. I lost 8GB of my broadband allowance thanks to that!

Well I'm not sure if it zoomed through anything because I only found it when it was 2.5gb in lol

but oh well. I doubt it did actually download the full 9gb...

The best way to fight it is stop using STEAM....

It can actually be quite convenient if you have multiple computers and a lot of friends who use Steam, though >_>;;

Is BLOPS fixed for PC yet? I'm still hearing complaints about jitters, and...about 9gb patches

I don't play it much.. I just dont find it as fun as COD4 ever was.

Mine doesn't jitter, but (at least before the patch, im not sure now) it used to crash randomly

Never really had any issues since day 1. I have had random freeze crashes in game but if that is a game or gfx issue I'm not sure.

An excessive patch might have just been a modification of a very large number of files, either way its better than the left4dead patch that was released that broke the game for a day
