Having the game for almost two days now, I played about 15 I think single player races and two or so times that online. I even managed to win like 7 races!
I wanted to be sure about it and while I am still under level 10 (8 I think), it's quite clear to me that this game has failed me.

This game is NOT Need for Speed. This game is the bastard child of Blur and Mario Kart DS. (yes DS)

The cars look good, although for some reason there is a lot of aliasing even at 1920x1200. More than I have ever seen in a modern game at that resolution.
The ground textures apart from the road, low res and bland. The traffic not that good either.

Now to the bad. The handling and all around feeling of the cars feel less realistic than Blur. The racing aspect of the game too. And in Blur you could shoot fraking missiles at the other players. There is no real weight to the cars. Each car has different stats but on the road it doesn't really matter because it is not them or the driving skills that decide a race.

The only thing that matters is who will use nitro more times. Whoever does, is the winner. If you have played Mario Kart online you know the snake or however else it is called. Although in NFSHP you can't do the snake, there are other ways to gain nitro fast and you just keep using it till a race is over. 50, 100 times, it doesn't matter. Oh, what about the corners! Don't worry, you can just hit them sideways and use nitro to not slow down almost at all, or you can drift and use nitro at the same time to not even have to worry about hitting anything. And don't worry, drifting is just one way to gain more nitro power!
Speaking of corners, if you go over certain speed, you just have to drift.

Anyway, I won't continue, you get the point.

If you want to play Mario Kart with realistic looking cars, get this game or even better Blur, if you want to play a racing game that is similar to the old ones, especially the first 4, don't touch this.

Disappointed with almost all the reviews online claiming this to be a game true to the original HP. Lies and nothing but lies.

I didn't have any expectations of realism when I tried it out. I think it was just fun to play for a bit but it gets boring after a while, although you are right in saying that it isn't really a Need For Speed game (Then again, neither was Nitro, that failure of a game in every respect).

I wasn't expecting or wishing for a simulator. But this is just a kart game in disguise.

Nitro? I only know of an old top down arcade racer with the title Nitro which was very good, is there another game with that title?

Nah, I never managed to learn to like it with Mario Kart, I am not going to do so with this. Good thing I bought it for a low price.
