I actually walked into the store to get a copy and just couldn't part with the cash for it right now.

I'm actually trying to finish some other games before getting anything new to play. I've developed a bad habit of not finishing prior games before buying new ones.

Unfortunately blibbax, it has come down to just that. Console porting. This game is a far cry from FarCry but i will play it through and add it too my "games i've played" list.

So far the game is a little too hold-your-hand ish.

The graphics flicker alot. Was reading that crossfire needs to be disabled, so will try that later. (on a side note, i was just thinking of dumping my dual gpus to free up a pci port, so might go back to single card. i'm waiting for the 590 reviews and then decide if i want to continue multi-gpu or not).

Game's visuals are nice, but i don't like the HDR. First outside scene is way to bloomy.

Story wise, too early to tell, but feels like... drum roll... Crysis.

After not buying the game the previous night, I couldn't pass it up earlier this evening.

I'm actually quite enjoying the SP Campaign. And, on my system with the HD 6870 and all the settings at EXTREME and 1920x1080, I'm getting 45-60 FPS all throughout.

I've made it past the FDR Bridge sequence and have entered the area of buildings where the LAB guy tells me he left an address for me and I need to trash the computer before the C.E.L.L. members reach it.

I'm using the latest RC2 11.4 drivers and there's no flashing or other abnormal behavior in the game. It's a gorgeous game whether it's what you like, as a game, or not.

I received my copy today and installed everything. Set up all my keybindings and Nvidia profiles. Launched and 'Game will be available after 25/3/2011'

Well I had mine since saturday. It's not short, took me about 12 hours to go through. I would personally rate it around 9/10 here.

Managed to get my copy working tonight. Apart from login issues with my MyCrysis account.

My initial impressions - Graphically I would say it's a small step back from Crysis. It just has that 'console' look about it. Textures are a bit flat and fuzzy. Lighting is good and the environments are quite dense with lots going on. I would say for a console game it looks great. Crysis almost felt like you were in a tropical environment with a tangible world to explore whilst so far this very much feels like you're playing a game.

Also, it's absolutely murdering my GFX card with temps getting up past 90c pretty quickly. I am gonna stick another fan on the case tomorrow.

the campaign was pretty fun, finished it last night.

i ended up seeing something like 16 hours of play on it. i personally loved the story but i still hate the fact that it ended up being a pretty bad port...

What is so sad....actually, PATHETIC...is that the PC version was released without the DX 11 support. As much as I'm enjoying the SP Campaign, what is there about it that would make it enticing enough to play it again once the DX 11 patch is released? This really is/WAS a bad move on the part of Crytec, IMHO.

i was REALLY angry when i read all the details.... i wanted to return my already opened game and get my money back.... after playing it, i loved how it all turned out but the game was marred by corner cutting and half-assed developers...

i mean... freaken walls and buildings are hardly destructible and bullet holes and things hardly stay around

pretty much nothing can be interacted with save for a few sedan sized cars and barrels.... you cant even run over a lamp post with a tank...

the tank doesnt even have a health gauge like the last games so you never know when the damn thing is going to blow up in your face... visible damage isnt all there either...

also, since im a lefty, the controls have to be heavily customized for me to be able to play most games, with this game, some key bindings do not like being changed for SOME reason. like the middle mouse button is used for the suit quick menu, i found out that the only way to exit from weapon customization or suit customization (other than pressing the esc key to pause and unpause the game) is that middle button which i do not like to use because i like buttons to toggle modes directly so if i bind the middle button to anything else, i cant get out of the customization menu.

small issues but REALLY annoying...

But, they are planning to release a DX 11 "Patch" in the near future. If a patch can provide DX 11 support, why wait?

I've played various games using the DX 9, 10, and 11 api. There IS a nice graphical benefit when using DX 11 when it's available.

Wasn't too impressed with the graphics until I downloaded the Advanced Graphics Options 1.4 utility and then it looked fantastic. Using that utility makes it a lot easier to deal with the lack of DX10/11. Unfortunately, the game is just causing tons of lockups requiring a hard reboot so I'm gonna have to wait for better drivers. I'm using the latest 11.4 Preview drivers but it seems Nvidia users are getting the BSOD's too.

So far my impressions of the SP campaign are mostly positive. Some good environments and set pieces. Some AI quirks and the audio doesn't appear to have a true 3D soundstage - when listening on my XFi with CMSS3D, sounds don't pan smoothly around the space but jump from one channel to another. I think a little bit of extra polish for the PC version would have done wonders for visuals. True AA for a start for powerful systems. DX9 smoke = really in 2011, smoke doesn't have square edges. Some POM mapping for textures would have improved graphics enormously.

I'm playing through on Supersoldier and it is as hard as nuts - I die once every 5 minutes. I'm in a scene now that seems to have constant enemy spawn. I hate that and that was one of the positives of Crysis that once you killed the enemies that was it.

The MP is totally borked. I've tried numerous times over the last few days to get a Ranked game but cannot get into a server that will actually start.

Have to say Crytek are not the developers they once were!

I bet the limited memory in the consoles forced to cut the sandbox element in Crysis 2. I hear it isn't as open as the first game and it is more linear, is that right ?

How would you guys rate it compared to Crysis 1 and Warhead? I felt Crysis 1 was too short but was quite enjoyable nontheless. I've been playing through both games now and I'm amazed how HUGE the world is. I'm holding off on Crysis 2 until the DX11 patch comes out.

yeah it is, its been so dumbed down.... but its still a good shooter nonetheless.

It this was 2008 and this game had been released it would be quite amazing. But, being that it's 2011, and there's hardware that will support DX 11, I'd, personally, rank it at 6.5/10. IMHO, there's absolutely no excuse to release a game for PC that doesn't ... at the very least ... support DX 10. And, if it could do that, then there's no reason to avoid DX 11!

That said, I've enjoyed playing it and the way it develops. And, of course, I'm speaking only to the SP Campaign part.

But, why is Nvidia listing Crysis 2 among the premium Direct 11 games???

heard apparently now they are retracting any info....and anytime they say a card is optimized for a game is just marketing hype. its like those board specific features manufacturers optimize. same shit across the board different takes.
