Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

So I'm finally starting this thread (and I've been meaning to since the game was published on PC).

Has anyone else played it? I've done almost all there is to do in single player (with pleasure, I loved Rome and some of the side quests were probably better than a good deal of those making the main story) and now I'm playing multiplayer more and more.

I'm going to be shameless and post the same video for the second time and the reason I'm so proud of it is that I used to suck at defensive play, which is necessary when you have multiple pursuers on you, so I'd often climb to the 1st or 2nd place, but then the server would start sending more pursuers on me and I'd keep getting killed until I'd drop back to the middle of the pack.

This time, though, I was able to hold my own against three higher ranked players. I actually enjoyed defensive play, seeing my pursuers killing civilians they thought were me and making themselves visible to their pursuers. And when one of those turned out to be my mark, presenting itself to me on a silver platter at the very end of the video, that was just priceless (my best kill ever too, 1000 points!).

BTW, I know I didn't play perfectly, at 5:50 I actually tried to kill a civilian but was too far and then, luckily, my mark climbed into sight. Also, I had no idea I brushed against my pursuer at 5:54, so instead of stunning him, I let him see me kill my mark and then get me quite easily.

Re: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

I believe you, I had a bit of free time and it's the only game I've been playing since the day it had gone out so I finished the SP, but it was huge, from the map itself to the amount of things to do.

EDIT: I wanted to say "maybe junior could help", but then I remembered this was an 18+ game. I was never banned from playing any game so I'm not sure where I stand on that matter and what I'm going to do one day as a parent.

Re: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

Is it worth it? I'm about 80% done with Assassins Creed II on 360.

Re: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

It's definitely worth it, unless you feel that you should take a break from the series after you finish AC II.

The amount of SP content is certainly similar to previous games from the series and 90% of the new game formula is what was good in the previous parts, 5% is made of distilled and improved things that didn't work so well in the past and 5% new:
- missions have additional 100% synchronization conditions (such as "don't be detected", "kill only your mark", "use only rooftops while following X through town" etc); you can finish without fulfilling them them, but they make the game a bit more interesting by forcing you to play like a true Assassin would;
- side missions are well incorporated into the main story and well thought out (those with Leonardo's machines are particularly awesome);
- seeing your Assassin recruits in action is a real treat;
- many details that were present in one of the previous parts are now back, tweaked, such as saving innocent people from soldiers and vigilantes;
- horse riding and mounted combat have been improved;
- new and fun weapons have been added;
- interaction with the world is somewhat deeper; you reopen closed shops to gain access to their items, but also to gain profit and discounts; you also perform assassinations and missions for the Thieves' and Courtesans' Guilds and get them buildings to increase their presence in a region;
- Virtual Training you don't have to touch, but it allows you to perfect your free-running and combat abilities (I wouldn't have learned how to perform killstreaks if it weren't for VR and that made combat way more dynamic and fun); it also allows you to compete against your friends for the highest score; I find it a fun addition.

Multiplayer is also fun. There are both "each man for himself" and allied modes. You unlock additional abilities that give you more tactical options and make the game more fun, but succeeding is about not sticking out and making your opponents take you for just another NPC until it's too late, so even a low level player can compete with those with better stats if he has to (game tries to connect you with players of similar level, but if it can't find them then you play whomever you get).

So, if you feel that you want more after finishing AC2, go for it.

Re: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

I have to agree it does feel like they sorted a lot of the niggles that were in the first 2 games and is really a polished game now , also Brotherhood does advance Desmonds story quite a bit so if you are interested in that side of it Brotherhood is a must have

even if its just for the satisfaction of finally getting the Brutus Armour

Re: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

Enjoyably sneaky gameplay. Was fun to look at even if it's not the kind of game I'm looking for at the moment.

Re: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

Thanks, mkk!

There is the option of playing more "actively", you've probably noticed some players running over the rooftops. I found that I make things too easy for my pursuers that way though, so I'm keeping a lower profile.

There are also other modes where one whole team are made hunters and the others pray for a whole round (they switch roles in the second one) where hunters don't need so much stealth and it's more about getting to your mark fast and picking it off from a crowd of identical characters.

The Assassinate mode is a whole different story, it's similar to Wanted (in the video), but with two major differences. You only know the general direction of other players, not what they look like, and the server doesn't assign marks and pursuers, so everyone is a fair game, but also anyone seeing you blow your cover at any time may kill you.
