RIFT Players?

Do any of you guys play RIFT? If you're looking for something a little different after WoW then i thoroughly recommend Rift, I bought it last night and it instantly hooked me in. The invasion system is very fun, don't listen to what people say about it. Basically when an invasion happens hoards of enemies appear and begin marching through the zone towards towns and cities, The whole zone is needed to try and fight them off otherwise they camp zones and start killing off quest givers and merchants/ect.

Anybody else playing?

Re: RIFT Players?

Don't really have time for MMORPGs atm, but I had been tempted to go back to WoW for a bit when my summer break starts in 9 weeks.

RIFT does look really good, but thing is, half the reason I've played WoW as opposed to any other MMO in the past is that I've built up so many contacts in game.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who can comment on what the RIFT end-game's like (compared to high end WoW raids).

Re: RIFT Players?

I've played numerous MMORPGS... and while i haven't tired rift..... I and hundreds of others having played lineage 2 and gone and tried others keep falling back to L2..

The concept of the hoards invading and such actually occured in lineage II during some of the events... running in and killing people in town... was fun time... but wasn't made a standard part of the game... however it's being potentially made part of it come next update.

What's driving me nuts is i've never had anything to do with rift.. and i keep receiving the same emails from multiple people claiming to me rift admins questioning my account and asking me to login to clarify..... (which is an obvious scam as i've been blasted for the last year and a half by "wow admins" about buying currency and account misuse and such)

The playerbase is still kind of small at the minute, It's nowhere near as active as WoW but i've heard Trion is going to start offering free trials which will definately start pulling people in (no free trial atm that's what put me off until i saw the limited edition on steam cheap) which will definately show off this game's potential.

I hopped on this morning to finish off a few quests i picked up last night and a bunch of rifts randomly opened as i was leaving the Sanctum (City) and it got hectic, People started piling into the zone to close the rifts it was really fun i've dealt with the odd level 7/8 rift myself (level 13 atm) which was difficult but to take down the level 12+ rifts which spawn a lot more mobs a lot of help was needed and it was a great experience

There's different types of rifts too which requires you to co-ordinate different types of players (especially casters) on a whim, A lot more so than on a raid in WoW, I'm a Pyromancer (3 guesses what i cast) so when a fire rift opened up i needed a lot of help because i was hardly dealing any damage until i switched to my Necromancer spec but by then i was getting a little over-run and my minion had died
