Single-player PC Games
Hi guys,
I am kind of curious about what single-player PC games you guys would recommend. I'm open to all kinds. Re: Single-player PC Games
If you want to loose yourself for about 3 months... Fallout 3, Oblivion and New Vegas.

Re: Single-player PC Games
I could make a list as long as my arm, so I'll make a recommendation for each major genre. You've probably played them before, but if you haven't, you need to do so right away :P
RPG: Oblivion FPS: HL2 RTS: RoN Obviously those three would be different if I was to include multi-player potential, but strictly for the single player modes, I'm pretty sure that those are my favourites.

Re: Single-player PC Games
@V3: Already got every single achievement in Oblivion and all of its DLC on 360 (I just got it for PC on Steam...but wayyy too lazy to play through it again). I kind of feel like Fallout 3 would be a rehash...and how good is New Vegas?
Also, excited for Skyrim? yup! (I still cant believe they got rid of greaves/pants as an item...that annoys me, tough. And hand to hand combat).

I forgot about driving games! GT4
![]() And yes, rather painfully, Skyrim will launch some 4 weeks before I'll have time to play it...

Re: Single-player PC Games
I'm going along with Dyre and recommending the Longest Journey series, a bit dated in terms of graphics, especially the first, but once you get into the game it doesn't matter. Great storyline

Re: Single-player PC Games
I can't believe anyone hasn't mentioned Portal and Portal 2 yet.
The first part is all single player and and I warmly recommend it. It's also been greatly discounted since the release. Part 2 is currently 50% off (and will be so for another 6 and a half hours, then it's back to 33% off for another 24h). It's got a co-op mode, but also a solid single player "campaign".

Re: Single-player PC Games
Haha, I am gigantic Portal fanboy and have beat everything but the co-op in P2.
So far, games I have purchased at discounted-Steam rates: All three Assassins Creeds ($30 for all 3...still on sale, go get em!) Batman Arkham Asylum Total War Shogun II (I just love Japan and Total War...so yeah). I should be good for quite a while. still on my list to get: Bioshock 1, 2, Infinite Fallout 3, Fallout NV Morrowind, Skyrim Duke Nukem Forever (I refuse to pay more than $15 for this game, though) Thank god I'm actually employed at the moment...

Re: Single-player PC Games
If ou like indies you can try Plants vs Zombies, World of Goo , Braid and many others.
For big games I can think of Just cause 2: free roaming , nice destruction and lots of veichles. Amnesia: Great surviva horror game with many custom story already available. Farcry 1: Crysis with mutants. Like it over FC2. Mafia & Mafia II: nice action adventure games. a bit like GTA in the 40s but not that good.

Re: Single-player PC Games
Dragon Age Origins if you haven't tried that. You can sink a month or two into it with all of the options involved.
Thief series is pretty good too. It's older, graphics are dated but I think they are still pretty good and there are tons of mods out there as they have a huge fan following. There is also a Thief mod for UT called Thievery that allows multi-player games as a thief or cop. |

Re: Single-player PC Games
I just beat Total War: Shogun 2 on Normal difficulty (with the Long campaign) in about 6 days and 20 hours playtime. For anyone that loves RTS, you really should pick it up...totally worth the $30. One of the best RTS in my opinion -- rivals AoE2.
I think Batman is up next, to be followed by Dragon Age and AC:B.

Re: Single-player PC Games
I'm starting to get worried about the fate of PC RPG's. It seems like more and more of them are being ported from consoles or torn down to allow console players easier controls. Examples of this are Dragon Age II (biggest waste of $60 in my life, f*ck you Bioware) and (I'm hopefully wrong) Skyrim (with its "itunes-like" menu and lack of pants). Are there any new RPG releases coming out either solely for PC or focused for PC that I'm not aware of?
It seems like the only PC-only/focused RPGs of any calibre are MMO's, which is highly disappointing.

Re: Single-player PC Games
Agreed, I'm very worried for Skyrim. It has the potential to be either my go to single player game for the next 4 or 5 years, or a colossal waste of money.

Re: Single-player PC Games
I'm going to be ordering the Collector's Edition of Skyrim, and really hoping it doesn't fail massively. I became a hardcore Bethesda fan when I started playing Morrowind in primary school, and Oblivion is one of my favorite games of all time (along with Dragon Age: Origins).
Another game I'll probably be getting will be the Star Wars Old Republic MMO Collectors Edition. It's...expensive as holy hell (most expensive CE I've ever seen) but I'm a big Star Wars nerd ♥. Looking over releases for the next 12 months, as far as RPGs go...there's basically Skyrim, Diablo 3, and Guild Wars 2 for pure RPGs (not action-RPGs like Batman, Max Payne, etc.). :/ Also, just caught wind of this...anyone heard of Lord of the Rings: War In the North?

Re: Single-player PC Games
I am really looking forward to Skyrim and Diablo III.
Haven't heard anything of LotR: war in the north... I am just wondering.. what are the must-play games at the moment? I am looking in the RPG, action-rpg kinda type games.. I am looking into buying The Witcher 2. Is it worth it?
