Who's the newb with old crap?
This little guy? I wouldn't worry about him.
He's just some idiot who joined your forums just recently. Some guy who thinks that he knows a thing or two about computers and can actually engage in some conversations. Ha, idiot newb. Anyways, I do come from a long background of computers. I remember my dad buying our first computer which probably did cost over 1k for just kb\s of memory and so on. I remember it had two 5 1/4" drives in the front. Played a couple of games like... ![]() ![]() Of course the guy who sold the computer to my dad said that will be all we ever need. Funny man.... Fast forward and we come to my real first computer, a dell optiplex GS+ which I still have. Can't give the specs now can can later if requested. Nevertheless, this one I played Starcraft through AOL dialup on a 14k modem. Ah, the good times of covering up the modem at 2am in the morning to not wake the parents. Also got introduced to ![]() ![]() I still play these games and more on it when I'm in the mood. Moving on a lot further ahead to now, where I'm rocking a PN5-D mobo with a Intel Core 2 quad cpu @ 2.83 ghz, a Nvidia GTX 460 1gb clocked at 1.025v and 880/1760/1800, 8gbs RAM on windows 7 ultimate 64bit all encased in a Gigabyte poseidon chassis with a neon light that I never turn on. So I'm just here to check this out, talk about new games and old games, hardware configs and shoot the shit. And if you want to really get old, I'm staring at an old hard drive from one of these computers dated '92 Compustar 03100331-01 Date:02/28/92 02-TEAC-sd3105 This beast holds 105mb haha. Not even your single porn video can fit on it. What's your oldest paper weight? Regards |

Re: Who's the newb with old crap?
I still remember the days when I watched my brother play Orcs vs Humans, the very first Warcraft. Then I got older and was able to play as well.. magical times

Re: Who's the newb with old crap?
My fiancée's step-father-to-be has Warcraft 1-3 so no biggy there.
I remember playing a sweet little version of Break-out on a green screen when I was in primary school. It was a good few years out of date then ![]() With people on here who were from the pre-computer era, reminiscing about old games from the 90s won't get you far.

I have SOCKS that are older than his "old" HDD.Old in computers is something like an IBM 360/20 with 8K of memory, a card reader/punch, and a printer. Even THAT was new when compared to the IBM 704.

Re: Who's the newb with old crap?
Haha, amazing. I bet your socks are older than me
![]() That is the oldest I do have for computers, but what about my intellivision (rocking out on dragonfire, nightstalker and tron's deadly disc) or my atari (keystone capers yo!).... Well, they were my dad's who would play burgertime like it was his job with my uncle while drinking up their vodka. |

Re: Who's the newb with old crap?
My dad is turning 62 in December...to be fair, I have a brother who's 28, so it's a little more understandable.
Also, you speak of a granddaughter, Dyre...? (Just teasing, ofc.)

Re: Who's the newb with old crap?
wow, I'm 18, and believe it or not, I have no idea what these computers are
![]() I am relatively young in tech talk, as I just started using a computer when I was 15 maybe. Notice I said using, I only started to really get to know them maybe 1 year and a half ago, put it 2 years top I think. Although I still remember Windows 98, when I had to wait for the orange phrase saying I could turn the PC off lol |

Re: Who's the newb with old crap?
LOL!
![]() And my first gaming computer was an IBM PC100, it had a Pentium 100Mhz processor, it actually ran at 90Mhz but I o/ced it to 100Mhz and some of my earliest games on it I played included Doom, Fury 3, Age of Empires, Keen, Bio Menace, Duke, Hugo and The Magic School Bus Explores the Solar System among others. Oh, good times indeed.

It was more of a subtle insinuation. But, I did catch it. After all, my Granddaddy radar goes into overtime with this type of .... interest.
