Any news on the DRM for PC?
The more I read about the game the more I like what I read.

Screw the PC version. The PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution is region-locked.
So if you are one of those who order online, for example from Amazon.co.uk, and you are not in the UK, then you can't play the game. LOL Region Locked (see first page, first post summary of Q&As and updates) - Eidos Forums GOT to love the excuse " The region locking exists because they couldn't get all languages onto the DVD." Another hit to PC gaming.

Maybe they want to separate regions so no one import the game from another region where the game is cheaper (Like Russia
) Personally I wouldn't care I don't buy boxed games anyway.

I feel like I missed out on a part of gaming history by not having played the original Deus Ex so I'm anxiously awaiting Human Revolution. I know I shouldn't say this but I want it to be fantastic, not just good or great. I probably won't even play it unless it's an instant classic.

For those who may be interested, Fry's Electronics has an AD for the game on day of release prices....
FRYS.com These are $10 off the advertised retail price of other game retailers in our area. That's $10 off either the PC or the Console versions. |

What is this? I just got back from WalMart with my copy of the game. Got things going, entered the activation code, and....
"Game cannot be installed yet as it has not been released." It is almost 1 a.m. where I am. What's up with this? |

You will have to obey the mighty gods of the drm. Just because you bought it, it doesn't mean you are going to play it whenever you want.

Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution - US Release, 8/23; Europe, 8/26
Oh yeah, this is a port alright. It looks like the first level of Alpha Protocol. Good but made for 6 years old console.
More importantly, how is the gameplay?

Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution - US Release, 8/23; Europe, 8/26
all reviews are praising this game.. and as a imo; there's nothing wrong with how Alpha Protocol looks when the gameplay is similar to old Deus Ex or better, right?

I was talking about the amount of detail, or lack of, and kind of blunt textures, etc.
I love Alpha Protocol and I had no problem with the graphics, but the graphics were definitely "consoled". ![]() I am glad the gameplay is good. I watched a video review of it from a veteran gamer who never played the first two games, and he mentioned all good things. Choice and replayability and story. The words you want to associate with the series. So far everyone says how good the game is.

And, yes, the game is very immersive. There are plenty of side quests you can choose to do or not do. And, from what I've come across so far, you can decline to do them and then come back to them later...pending if you can locate the person needing the job done. I do advise that you attempt to talk to everyone. I picked up a very, very good sidequest just talking to an apparent "working girl." Caught me totally by surprise. There is definitely some re-play value in this game. |

Damnit. I have to say I'm really jealous. Went to pick up my copy of the game at EB, and wouldn't you know it, the mall has to have a power failure in the exact section EB was in, and it stayed that way until the mall closed. I have to wait until tomorrow now to get it.

Another franchise i missed. Have to hunt down the first one and then pick this up. Was watching the launch party at Eidos Montreal, on a local tv show, the other day, looks good.

Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution - US Release, 8/23; Europe, 8/26
Thought I'd post these couple tidbits.
There seems to be issues with Tessellation enabled, such as flashing tiny black dots on NPCs faces/clothing. As well there seems to be a lot of input lag and FOV issues too. Here's a couple things to try: - By default the game turns on MLAA if the system is able to support a high AA setting. From what I remember this is primarily (if not soley) an AMD/ATI option. With it set to this, along with having Tessellation turned on, this causes the horrible flashing black dot issue on NPC's faces (I thought my card was overheating at first). If you are using an Nvidia card make sure you turn the AA setting to FXAA (this is Nvidia's AA). It doesn't completely get rid of the flashing dots, but it does reduce them significantly, even to the point that you may not even notice the issue. Turning off Tessellation completely gets rid of the issue, btw. If all else fails try running the game in DX10 mode. - As for input lag, there may not be "actual" lag at all. The Y and X axis inputs are NOT the same in the settings panel. Even if you put the 2 at the same setting Y is always slower. To even them out you need to increase the Y axis by at least 2 or 3 points above X's. - There was a posting somewhere about the off FOV (same FOV with both 16:9 and 16:10). The suggested "fix" was to set FOV to 80 for those running 16:10 (such as 1900x1200), and 90 for those running 16:9 (1900x1080). (last 2 fixes are from the Steam forums) |

Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution - US Release, 8/23; Europe, 8/26
So far, the only "flickering" I had was of Adam's front weapon-carrying hand. The "fix" for this was to disable the Steam Overlay.
Other than this, the game is playing really well on my 3x1 Eyefinity setup using DX11. I'm also playing with a 360 gamepad. I've kind of tired of playing hunched over a kb/m for hours at a time.

Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution - US Release, 8/23; Europe, 8/26
I just finished my first play through about 30 minutes ago. I've played just about every night for the past two weeks.
I don't get into any hurry when playing a game like this. I do a LOT of exploring since there are so many different paths that can be taken to get to where you eventually need to go. I also play for the fun of it! It's taken me 46.9 hours to complete the game and I made 30 of 49 possible achievements... or 61%. That's something I never really pay attention to in this type of game where I really just want to play to my own strengths. It's definitely a game I want to go through again some time soon. Meanwhile, there are other games I need to tackle instead. Are there any annoyances to me with this game? Answer: Yes. 1. As much as AMD was supposed to have worked with them, I cannot get 3x1 Eyefinity to work properly whenever I enable my CFX system. I have to play with just one card or else the HUD gets sent to the extreme corners of the outside displays. With one card, the HUD is restricted to the center screen as it should be. 2. Whoever oversaw the cutscene/dialogue animations should be FIRED! No one that I have ever met turns their heads from side to side in such corny movements like they made these characters do. It was downright stupid the way they made some of these "serious" conversations appear with the heads rocking side to side like this. Otherwise, the game is definitely a 9/10 experience for me. |

Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution - US Release, 8/23; Europe, 8/26
The only achievements I missed....
I actually went back into the game and completed the Machina achievement by experiencing all of the endings. So, I'm at 63% of completing all achievements. But, I'm not going to try Legend, Pacifist, or Foxiest. I just do not play games for those kinds of "pleasures". I should be able, however, to get the Doctorate and Gun Nut items. I'm kind of surprised I didn't get the Gun Nut one anyway.
