SteamGifts - Win Free Steam Gifts or Donate Games (no scams, pyramids, etc)

First, to reiterate the stuff from the title, this is not a scam, or a pyramid scheme (you don't get anything from inviting someone or anything such) or anything else that is generally frowned upon. It's a bunch of people who have spare Steam gifts or Steam redeemable CD keys that they wish to give away to complete strangers, just like that, and an even bigger bunch of people who are trying to win free stuff. And it works, as I was lucky enough to see for myself tonight!

So here's how it works: you sign into the site through Steam (Steam swears that this is safe, the third party site only gets access to your public Steam profile), you paste the invitation code, the site estimates the value of your Steam account and if it's over a certain amount (I think $50, to prevent people from making infinite Steam accounts to increase their chance of winning), you're in.

Once you're in, you can create a giveaway if you have a spare Steam gift or a Steam redeemable key lying around, or, if you have enough points, you can enter a giveaway to win the prize.

Points are not earned, they are generated over time (for each new giveaway someone creates, everyone gets a small amount of points) and the amount of points needed to enter a giveaway corresponds to the Steam price of the game in US dollars.

There are some rules of conduct, but they mostly boil down to:
- don't try to win stuff you already own;
- don't try to win DLC for a game you don't own;
- don't try to use the system to make money.

So, if anyone's interested, I've got one invitation at the moment, so PM me and the site is here.

Haha, true, there are obviously heaps of games which people got and never needed (and I'm really surprised by the amount of stuff going through the site, at least 100-200 items a day!), so Steam is certainly the ultimate winner here.

Still, for those who like freebies or simply the thrill of entering a draw (as the chances normally run between 1:100 and 1:1000), it's pretty cool as it really doesn't cost you anything. It only takes a minute to click on a few interesting giveaways. After that, come back tomorrow to see if you've won anything and pick out new giveaways to enter. No catches of any sort.

Looks like a really great site, thanks for the invite IvanV. If I get any invites, I will post, so other HH members can join.
