Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion
You can select your own language at this link...
The Elder Scrolls Official Site I, for one, and I'm sure I'm not alone, am really looking forward to this game! Having, unfortunately, only discovered the Bethesda Elder Scrolls series beginning with Morrowind, I wish I'd discovered the series sooner. But, having played both Morrowind -- and its add-ons -- and then Oblivion -- close to 700 hours in all -- I really HOPE that Skyrim fulfills the anticipation I've built-up over the past year or so. We are now, just a little over a month away from the announced release. Anyone else eagerly awaiting this one? |

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion
I am confused, I simply do not know. One day I am eager, the next day meh.
I am worried that it is going to be less of an RPG than the previous games. I am also still not convinced the graphics, especially for terrain will be better than Oblivion. I hope it is good, I want it to be good.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion
I'm with BlueMak I guess. The game has the potential to be awesome, but if they stray too far from what's made them successful in the past it could be a flop.
Either way, I won't have time to play it until the Christmas holiday

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion
I'm also of two minds. I loved Morrowind, but I quickly got bored of Oblivion and never finished it. I hope some improvements come with Skyrim.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion
Well maybe not quickly.. it took some time
![]() some things that bored me: 1. variety of monsters: yaaaawn! gimme some ogres and dragons please! 2. leveling system: it actually rewarded a bad build and penalized a good one. 3. landscape; although huge was for the most part boring and empty.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion
I don't mind that since I will probably get it for the PS3. The when I do not know since...it's a long story.
The Elder Scrolls series was always more focused on the action, but... anyway, let's wait and see.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion
I've seen the gameplay footage demo thing on their site, and I must say I am really, really eager to try it out.
What put me off with Oblivion were the faces of the inhabitans... they were sooo ugly. Skyrim improved a lot on this part.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion
Morrowind and Oblivion both hold top spots in my favorite games of all time, and I am really excited for Skyrim...but it could be a flop. Rage (idsoftware+Bethesda) was probably one of the biggest flops I've seen in a long time (moreso than Duke). Hopefully HH will have some Skyrim reviews up on the 11th

I agree with you synthesis204. I was thinking about pre ordering Skyrim, but now I am worried.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion
On the other hand, Bethesda doesn't develop a game every 7 years, so I doubt they will have the same problem.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion
Wait, the map is only available to pre orders? WTF BS is that? So I guess regular orders have just the disc? Pff.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion
Same deal as with previous Bethesda CE. And I still have my Skyrim pre-order, but I am still worried. It took them a *year* for the patches that fixed Oblivion...there's also the thing that all PC copies of Skyrim come with Steamworks (I don't really mind this that much, though).

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion
I have no problem with steam but they need to fix the offline mode. It doesn't work when I am actually OFFLINE.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion
I've always found Steam's offline mode perfectly functional, but that's going off topic. I'm almost pleased that Skyrim's on Steam - it'll make patch installation and maintenance easier, and Steam's a distribution system that almost everybody already has and trusts. It minds it's own business for the most part, too.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion
Steam is evil, but it's the most-friendly of all the DRM-evils. Steamworks in itself is a form of DRM which takes away from the consumer [insert DRM-related hate rant here] but of all the possible DRMs it's definitely the best and least intrusive.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion
I have never, EVER bought a Collectors' anything ... until now. Earlier tonight I pulled the lever on the Skyrim Collectors' Edition for PC and opted for "Day It's Released" delivery from Amazon. I'm considering it an early birthday and Christmas gift to myself since both fall on the same day for me.
![]() For those who may be unfamiliar with the Collectors' Edition... here are some pics... (Although that box has the XBOX 360 LOGO on it, it's the PC version I'm getting. )![]() And, some close-ups of Alduin..... ![]() ![]()

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion
That's a nice box.
![]() I'm not as keen on Skyrim as I was on Oblivion when it was coming out. Partly because of Obilivion, heh, but also because the neither Nord side of the world nor dragons as they are portrayed in this game intreague me. Skyrim has consolitis even worse than Oblivion and they're not trying to hide it anymore, it's apparently a feature. I'll have to try it of course, but hopefully I can keep away until some nice mods come out for it. Maybe they'll patch in better graphics too if the release proves to be DX9 limited. |

And, with all the problems that are being reported e.g. with RAGE, I think developers are trying to be "safe" and make sure the games run well on release rather than have to deal with all the innumerable configurations that exist with PCs. I, personally, prefer to play on the PC, but, it does get downright frustrating when I've put out money for components and then the configuration doesn't work as expected. [Take note of my Crossfire + Eyefinity problems elsewhere.] |

November 11....
Eagerly waiting and hoping my order arrives on that day. This is also a national holiday here in the USA: Veterans' Day. AND, it's my brother's birthday, who will turn 60 on this day. We have a big party planned for him. AND, due to the birthday party for my brother, I have the day off from work. (It might be a short party for me. )
