Default Post -| Counter-strike or similars.. |-

Well... i have got a radeon 8500 powered by ati, and i'm a bit disappointed with it.. i always have used or voodoo's or geforces.. but i saw the benchmarks.. and i thought that this card was one of the best for the moment.. price/performance.. but actually, with cstrike or dod or any mod for half-life.. it's impossible to get 99.9 fps all the time.. i think this card should get that fps in every map and with a minium of 12 players in the server... but it dont do it..

At the beginning of each round.. i usually get 85-99fps and i think its so good.. but.. when i am shooting a man that is a bit far from me.. it suddenly fall down to 40 or less fps...
example for cstrike : in de_aztec, if u are ct.. and u are at the bridge aiming to terro in the other part of the bridge i got 40!!! or less...

i have tried the official ati drivers, the omega one's... but all the same.. i've configured opengl with the best performance possible.. i've fully reinstalled win xp & then installed the drivers ... i've configured the bios with the options that are in the omegacorner....

but.. NOTHING.. i'm really hopeless, i need a solution.. please help me!!

Thanks a lot & sorry 4 my paragraph

Open up your config.cfg (located in your cstrike folder) using notepad and add ati_npatch "0" to your config.cfg file. Anyone using an ATI card should apply this "tweak" for HL/CS/DoD. Let us know if that helps...

although this was vaguely amusing when you originally spammed around 40 "...."'s on the one day, is it just me or is it getting a little old?

I also remember I pmed you about it and you didnt bother even replying. if you can post at least in some way constructively in the future, that would be good.

why do I even have to post things like this, and do I really need to get hard assed about this?

'Cause your faithful and loyal Super-Duper Mod was slacking off again washing a car with his daughter. (She likes the hose best, go figure. ) Sorry Z, I'm on it....consider it a problem no longer and I think Impulse will get the message.

(Dig picks up his idiot-stick and whacks Impulse up alongside his head saying, "Got that?!?" )

Have you got SmoothVision enabled? Try switching it off.
Also, have you tweaked the CS fog options? The default settings are fine, and making them higher (so it looks better) causes a few cards to seriously slow down

Default Post A couple of quick info and tips

SkAmmeLs, just outta curiosity, could you give us some info on how other games on your system run. This is to be sure that your system (in a whole) might or might not need tweaking all over to help this problem of yours.

Have you disabled VSYNC, Smoothvision and Anisotropic Filtering?

Also, I'd suggest installing a monitor refresh fix application to lock your screen refresh rate (such as RefreshLock).

Well... i have disabled vsync, smoothvision, and anisostropic too.. i'm using refreshlock .. i use all the performance settings i can.. like gl_texturemode gl_nearest_mipmap_nearest.. or playing without seeing the weapon model.. but more like the same.. i got suddenly 40 fps when aiming at the bridge in aztec 4 example...

i tried omega's and ati official... i dunno which would be the best for a gamer who wants performance and not image quality... but ive tried both...:/

i play gta3 without any problems.. warcraft 3 fluently... quake 3 more like the same...

but in cstrike.. i got that problems..

If more information is needed, just said it

Thankz a lot.
