A Gravis eXterminator. (I don't think they make them any more)

This gamepad was truly excellent! I loved it - unfortunately it died on me after about 250-300 hours of gameplay, including FFVII and Privateer 2.

I recommend a gravis pad, in general.

Best thing I found was to modify an XBOX controller to a usb plug, works great. Also have an old Hammerhead FX which never gave a bit of trouble except for the fact there are no official Win XP drivers and profile editor.

System Specs

The ps2 connectors tend to have shoddy drivers that can be a pain. Here's an interesting suggestion: I heard the xbox 360 controller is just usb and has drivers for windows xp. If you think the xbox 360 controller is nice, you should investigate this more. I was thinking of doing this myself, but there's nothing for a pc that I want for many months.

Xbox controller. Seriously. I hate PS2-cloned gamepads. I like my analog stick right nearer to my thumb, and those analog triggers are awesome for racing games.

However, don't get the Xbox360 controller... yet. No rumble support.

I got an Xbox 360 controller.
Works fine but I think I either got a dud, or the driver are teh fuxed because it always pulls to the left just a bit if I flinch the knob and release it fast. Other than that, I'd recommend it!
