Best PC gaming pad?
What if any game pad do you use? I use a keyboard and mouse for most of my games, but for some games like GTA3 AND GTA3:VC I like a good game pad.
I have 2 I have a Wingman rumple pad and an AXIS pad. I think im getting a Thrustmaster FireStorm Dual Power Game Pad this friday I think. It looks sweet. I'm just not happy with either of my other two So what game pad do you use? And has anyone ever tried one of them PS2 usb converter so you can us a PS2 dualshock controler? How do you like it? Thrustmaster

The one I would be using if I could get XP drivers for it is the Hammerhead FX. But, since I can't I'm using a USB Wingman Rumble Feedback like you've tried.

Another option is if you already have a Playstation Controller you can buy an adapter to use it on your computer, that's what i do and it works quite well. Check it out here...Playstation Adapter

I just bought a sidewinder usb but i'm going to exchange it for a wingman rumblepad. the sidewinder isn't bad but i'm missing the two analog sticks. i thought it wouldn't be a big deal but now i see it is a big plus when playing games like madden 2004. its also neat how you can download the profiles from the logitech site.

Wingman rumblepad is great- But I would like to try out that adapter for the the PS2 pad-- DO the analog BUTTONS work on the PC? And what drivers do you use? Generic WinXP drivers?

You have PS2 controler right? I was talking about the analog Buttons. It would be good for allot of games if they worked.

nostromo n45 - 4 face buttons 2 analog sticks, awesome 8dr dpad, 4 trigger buttons, 3 start/select/mode buttons, amazing software that lets you bind literally anything to any key.
saitek p800 - great 8dr dpad, 6 face buttons, 2 triggers, 2 analog sticks, software isnt as good but it has 6 face buttons so its better for fighters. anyone that tells you any differently is lying. |

Saitek P880, hand's down. It is awesome for fighters, feels very comfortable, and has a great D-pad. And it has a blue LED. It's also very easy to switch between the D-pad and the analog pad, even in-game.
The nostromo n45 has a distinctly strange feel (to me), clumsy L/R buttons, awkward layout for fighter games, and an annoying D-pad. It is not a bad controller by any definition, but it does not fit me very well at all. |

either the Belkin Nostromo n45 or the Saitek p880. i own both. so far they are the only gamepads that i have used that don't have flat circles for d-pads. the saitek is better for 2d fighters though, because the n45's d-pad has some sharp corners.
those gamepads are both serisouly awesome and worth the money. i bought the p880 because Javafox kept on beating me in darkstalkers. and it did improve my 2d fighter play. as for the software that comes with both... the n45's software is MUCH easier to use than the p880. although, the p880 software does give you the luxury of being able to spin a 3d model of the controller around freely. if you like console style controllers go with the Belkin Nostromo n45. but if you like the arcade stlye feel, get the Saitek p880 because it has six face buttons and two shoulder buttons, as opposed to the n45's four face buttons and four shoulder buttons. also, something to consider... in case you get out of control when using a gamepad, the n45 has an "action stabilizer bar." .... i don't really know what it is for..??!!@ either get one of those gamepads, or go hardcore and mod an SNES controller to work with your pc. |
