Half-Life 2 Release Date ??

"Steam will be sending the majority of Half-Life 2 (encrypted) to people who preorder from it, then a week later, will be decrypted and officially released on the program. An official announcement on the matter should be expected on the 22nd of September, so we should hopefully get the full details then.

So it looks like a press release about a Steam release on the 22nd, then they start pre-caching on the 23rd for the next week, ending with the release over Steam on the 30th. Regardless, this mystery should be solved on Monday."

it should be GOLD! first and then 2-3 weeks later it should ships
ex. HALO was gold a week ago and will be released on sept 30 for 100%
but Half-Life 2 - there is noway it will be released on 30th in 1 week
all game stores told me November 14

read planethalf-life.com they got news from Valve

The game is missing September 30th. Anybody who knows anything about how game development and distribution works knows it's impossible for Valve to live up to their ECTS claim of a worldwide 9/30 retail release at this point. No, the game has not secretly already gone gold, and no, it's not going to be released on Steam 9/30. Come on, Steam has problems serving 24MB downloads of Deathmatch Classic at this point, even if HL2 was ready to go there's absolutely no way Steam could handle its distribution.

The latest Issue of PC Gamer is saying the release date of HL2 is 11/19/03...... that is IF anyone cares anymore......think this may be a dissapointing release....

Are you nuts man, with all the crap on the market these days its great to see companies delay product releases to be sure their product is at the level they want it to be. While it is a bummer to have to wait, getting discouraged is the wrong response.

I hear that Half-life 2 can be ran on a 500 mhz dx6 machine and can also make a dx9 3.06 Ghz machine crawl. thats from the first actical that PC gamer releaed about Half-life 2

Half Life 2 will definitely be an awesome game, no matter when it may be released. I really don't think that there is anyway this could be a dissappointing release, and i think that anyone who has seen the E3 trailer would think the same. People who aren't even gamers are anticipating the release of this game. I know that this whole "pushing the release date back" business is really shitty, BUT almost every highly anticipated has been pushed back. so this is to be expected. plus most games that are rushed to meet their release date are always extremely buggy. so i will gladly wait until HL2 is released.... that is as long as it doesn't turn out into a duke nukem forever... other than that though i can wait.

I agree with you that it is going to be an AWESOME game... what I ment by dissapointing release is the stuff with Steam..... Feels like that part has let a little "wind out of the sail" for this game... May be it is all hype...may be it isn't.. guess all the Steam talk has me down a bit about this one.... I hope everyone is wrong about it....

if you have windowsXP go to display properties (right click desktop then properties) then to appearance then to color scheme and choose silver. Then for the icing on the cake hit that desktop tab there and on the bottom right select black as the color for the icon background
