I couldn't figure out why I just didn't love the game to pieces! It was running well, all the violence I could want, the plot is actually gripping to me (I played the first SoF mission a couple of hundred times...a new story line is a big deal to me.
); but it just looked f-ing washed in places. I'd tried playing with my brightness settings, overlay settings, and even adjusting my monitor but I kept having bright patches that faded everything around it and everything looked just a bit washed to me. I was thinking that as I tried to throw myself into the game again. "It's such a great f-ing game that I've been waiting sooo long to play, I even built this computer just to play it on! But it doesn't look good, it's all faded in the bright spots. Like it's a bit too bright or something..or overly bright a bit.... ![]() overly...bright...bit *DING!* ...overbrightbits!... ![]() I'd remembered seeing it in a couple of Q2 & Q3 configs, but must have forgot about it. Sure enough, in the SoF2\base\ directory in the 'myconfig.cfg' file there was an entry labelled "seta r_overBrightBits" with a big ugly "1" next to it. Changed that "1" to a "0" and fired up SoF2... ...and it was perfect! It's probably just a stupid thing that I screwed up somehow, but seeing as it made about a zillion percent improvement for me in how the game looked I thought I'd best make a quick post about it in case anyone else had the same bitch about SoF2. I really did just plan to make this a short post, forgive the length but I've had a pretty mega-stressed day and tend to babble to blow off steam. :s It really did make a huge difference in the games visuals for me, all my colors had a stinking 16-bit banding look to them before and now they look all gloriously 32-bit again. ![]() I hope someone else finds this helpful, 'cause I'm loving the heck out of this game! I'm gonna do something weird and quit posting, tweaking, benching, & parenting for a bit and just slip on the headphones (WOW have a cheap pair of headphones added to my latenight gaming goodness, a definate parents must! ) and go see if I can go save the world and find out who's behind all this chaos! (I'm just after the bookstore incident with Sam and the plot is picking up nicely. )

How did you screw it up in the first place? Mine ran perfectly from the first install.

Uhm, why no! Of course not! I was just seeing if I could get around the need for a CD by a slightly different install method. (I just copied all the files from the "setup" directories into a "SoF2" directory I made and then changed the files from "read-only". Worked fine, didn't need a key neither. )Warez is BAD! Warez is ILLEGAL! I wouldn't be caught using any warez on my boxes. <---knock wood... (Hey, I'll buy the game as soon as they release a bloody patch for it! Should be about Weds or Thursday this week by my calculations. )
