Halo doesn't run with force refreshed rates?

Why the hell can't I use refreshforce with this game.... I'm not going to be held back in all games now cuz of Microsoft....... Anyone know how to use a refresh forcing type of software in conjunction with Halo? Cuz I sure as hell don't wanna have all my other games reverting to 60hz......

as it's a MS game....you can go into DirectX and set the override value to whatever you want.... And it should work...if it doesn't.....something else is wrong....

Wtf, ahahhaha, i made a reply to this earlier today but it didn't post.. Hmm, well I got it fixed.... You just set the halo.exe file to run in win98/me compatibility.

DriveEuro, looks like you have it sorted w/ the win9x comp mode... but it sux that you have to use comp mode on a 2003 released game (well 1999 actually hehe).

Thing is, I havent grabbed a copy of the retail yet due to the sadly bad port. Hoping for a patch to fix some of the performance issues. But, I did try the BETA earlier and I didn't have any problems whatsoever w/ refreshrates... I can't stand anything less than 120hz, so I should've noticed if Halo forced 60

Have you really tried the rage 3D tweak? If not, try it.

What the hell is with everyone complaining about bad ports? The colors are amazing, the graphics are amazing, the performance is amazing at 1280*1024 on my rig. I think more people need to try till they just listen... No offense but I haven't met anyone who complained. Hell, I read someoen with a Ti4200 playing Halo at 800x600 and getting good frames per second.

No refresh force DID what it was supposed to do. But Halo is gay cuz it wouldn't let me start the game UNLESS my refresh rate was 60hz

I'm in class, so I don't have a chance to read all of this. You shouldn't need to do a refresh force. Just go into the Video settings in Halo and you tell it what refresh rate to run. At, least I have this option....

Yes, I know, but I play CS occasionally and that game needs the refreshforce. Not all games allow you to chose the refreshrate within the game.

-use20 -vidmode 1024,768,100 <--- ATI

Put either of these two commands in the shortcut exe for Halo, and if your resolution or refresh rate are different change to what you use.

Funny Halo lets me run 1280 x 960 @ 85Mhz no problem . I also think this is one of the best ports i have seen i awhile. Hey does anyone know how to get the console up in halo and the fps command?

Just want to see what my card is running at very smooth so far.

This problem seems to reside in the enumeration of video card modes upon launch of Halo.exe (and initial refresh rates higher than 75hz in the registry (not desktop)). Using the switches above should rectify the issue for now. By the way, the -use20 switch is for forcing the usage of 2.0 shaders, which seems to cause problems for some users. Recommend you isolate switches next time.

I would stick to using fraps or do a -timedemo.

If you want to see the FPS counter built into HALO then put -console in your shortcut. Then ~ to pull down console in game and type : rasteriser_fps 1
