Call of Duty single player cheats discovered

Found by me on a CoD forum somewhere. I don't know if it works or not tet, but I think it does.

Anyone want to tell me where to find a good hex editor?

[color=yellow]Get a hex editor open CodSP.exe

BACKUP YOUR ORIGINAL CODSP.EXE

Search for sv_cheats

Remove sv_cheats from the file (replace it with 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 in the data)

This removes it from being loaded as 'read only'[/color]

If this works we can enable shadows in single player- as well as UFO for cool screenshots, and probably many other cool things. Just need a hex editor- I opened the exe w/ wordpad and notepad and saw the sv_cheats entry, but no way to modify it correctly really.

That sux- did you try the cvar command for disabling cheats after doing that though? Did you try the command for disableing music in the config.cfg? It seams like it would work.

thats spuuosed 2 work 2 but it doesnt seem 2 try it

That stinks, the hex editing was supposed to get rid of the "sv_cheats is read only" problem..

Lots of sites list singleplayer cheats for this game that does not work. Even so called fansites. Great fans huh?

yes they do but there hacks ....but they work on multiplayer 2 isthe bad thing ... there comeing out of the wood work thers allready an aimbot, wall hacks, super zoom, no recoil etc.... a full line of hacks are out.....nut i wont go any further than mention they exist as hacks are agenst dh rules...

Don't you guys know the difference between single player and multiplayer cheats?

I've never cheated at a MP game in my life- I want SP cheats enabled to disable music and mess around with shadows and things like that. - they are cheat protected cvars..

So Hawk and mkk- you guys tried this codsp.exe hex edit? or are you guys talking about the old demo cheats that everyone has known doesn't work? I knew they didn't work the day I got the game too.

yes i know the diffrence, and yes I was talking about SPlay.
no i did not do the Hex, did sv_cheats, did not work,
playing on veteran skill and was only trying to use it for that stupid truckride after the Dam, which IMO realy has nothing to do with skill, but more when the game decides you died enough times before moving on,
I do beliefe a game should give you a change to survive, provided one does the right things.

Yes- that part is rough. You should try the hex cheat and see if you can get it to work, I haven't had time yet- I'm reinstalling COD and haven't installed it again yet.

I passed it now...(~27 retry's),
thing is I should f5 more, but in the time you do the qsave your a daisypusher,
things go to quick for my age I guess.

Oh I had no problems in running the game, but seeing the fastwrites prob., I did put fastwrites on and yes, 2x a complete lockup, so no fastwrites!!
did put the hunk thing Dyre was talking about on 256, and yes it runs smoother..

Oh, I dont want to bother finding the exact address, but all you need to do is rename the command. Change it to something like sv_cheets or something easy to remember. If I remember right, its one of the dll files that you need to change, not the exe because it will still think that particular thing is cheat protected because it uses the address, not the name to check if its a cheat. If you changed it in the exe, it would just thing that sv_cheets was the command and cheat protect that.

I'm doing the second to hardest level- I just got done w/ the truckride- the truckride wasn't bad, it was trying to shoot down the planes while getting hit in the side of the head from the dudes on the roof.

I played the whole game on Hardened. Since I'd played the demos over and over and over again

it only felt right to do it that way.

I didn't have nearly as much trouble with shooting the airplanes as that truck ride. In between airplanes I blew up the ground troops, too, along with their trucks.

Do you have the guys on the roof shooting you while you are maning the big guns for shooting planes? Those guys crush me, I keep having to get off the gun and shoot them in between planes.

Yes, but not for long.

I hop on and off the AA gun between planes.

But, I take care of the first wave before the planes start up. Also, try shooting a few planes before they get off the ground.

My cheat method DOES work- I just now tested it out.
I've tested god and noclip so far.

I'm sure all others work too- BUT I didn't turn off music or turn on shadows yet. I did turn the cvar for shadows on, but it didn't work --YET......

I just changed them to all zero's- on left side

----- I also wrote this in config.cfg: seta r_sv_cheats "1" and seta r_skip_auto_config "1" (but not sure if you even have to- actually you probably don't)

-then started the game and got into actual gameplay and typed: sv_cheats "1" in console

-then "god" and "noclip" in console to test. (and whatever other cheats there are work I am sure).

But most importantly, type cg_shadows "2" in console to enable shadows! I haven't tried it but I think it works for nice shadows. Going to test now for that.

OR- you can do this--

"To activate the cheats, first modify the properties for your shortcut by right clicking on the shortcut and changing the target to where the following is added after the last " mark. Make sure there is a space between the " and this addition:

+set thereisacow 1337 +set developer 1 +set sv_cheats 1 +set monkeytoy 0"

**but then you get text in upper left corner or something I guess.

IMPORTANT!!!! DON'T USE THIS Shortcut for MP- it will condifer it a cheat- put back original .exe and .cfg....

I got lucky then. I just did the auto config thing on a whim. But all the cheats don't work, onlt god, noclip, weapons and things.. I couldn't enable shadows or turn of music.. I think I need to do the "thereisacow 1337" to enable shadows, but I think I need to change the .exe back to default first.. I'm gonna work on it later. My goal is to turn off music, and enable shadows. I think it is possible. (Not too sure about music though)
