Refresh rate stuck at 60 in UT2004
When i first got the UT2004 demo, i was using the Omega 4.2 drivers. Everything worked fine with the demo and every other game i have. Then i updated to the Omega 4.3's, and now the refresh rate stays at 60 in both the UT demo and the retail version. Every other game seems to work fine (both direct3D and OpenGL).
I have the Refresh Rate Override set to 85hz, and Use DCC Info is unchecked. Those are the only settings i know about for the refresh rate problem, and they worked fine until now. Also, i've tried messing with the Vsync option in the ATI display properties, but nothing changes. So, does anyone else have this problem? Is there any other setting, in-game or otherwise, that i can change to try to fix this? I can install the Omega 4.2's again, but i'd rather not go through all the trouble if i don't really have to. I also kinda wanted to have the dx9 optimizations the 4.3's have. Here's my system specs: Pentium4 2.6 ghz Windows xp Home sp1 Radeon 9800 nonpro w/ Omega 4.3 drivers (no overclocking) 512 MB ram and it's a Dell, so i don't know any really specific hardware details. Thanks in advance for any help. Last edited by teh_moleman; Mar 27, 2004 at 02:46 AM. |

Theres a couple options in the .ini's are whatever they are inside the main dir, and I remember seeing that the default refreshrate key or string was at 60, so take a look in those

Nope, doesn't work. Here's what i found in the UT2004.ini:
[D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice] DesiredRefreshRate=60 and [D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice] DesiredRefreshRate=60 I changed them both to 85, but the game's still at 60 (and yes, i did save the changes) Anything else i could try? |

Do you have vsync enabled in the options? that will limit you r fps to how ever fast your refresh rate is on your moniter. so if you do, then thats your problem.

Ok, i kinda isolated the problem now. I changed the game resolution back to 1024x768 (down from 1280x1024) and the refresh rate goes to 85. At any other resolution the refresh is 60. I play pretty much every game at 1024x768, so maybe the same thing happens in other games cause i've never tried any other resolution.
So does Refresh Rate Override only work for whatever desktop resolution i'm currently using? or is it supposed to lock it at 85 in everything? If this is the case, then i guess i can live with it. It's still the best looking game i own right now

Enter the Displays tab and un-check "Use DDC Information".
