its a nvidia meant to be played game and they took it out in hope people didn't notice thier performace sucked in the game. utill they got thier drvers properly optuimzed for that game... (They even told nv card/driverbenchmarkers DO NOT BENCHMARK UT2004...) so of couse they did lol

(and the fact the ati was magorly owning frame rate wise and IQ wise)

hey man be sure to try the dx9 render

It's always like that, ATI owns the real games while Nvidia is good at 3D mark 03.

Whats the dx9 render??

the directx9 renderer is included in the patch (i wouldn't call it experimental its perfectly stable and gives good performance), but you can't select from the main menu you have to edit the ini files to enable it. go2 the directory where you installed ut2k4 and go2 the system sub-directory. now open up ut2004.ini and look for a section liek this (should be near the top)

[Engine.Engine]
RenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice
;RenderDevice=D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice
;RenderDevice=Engine.NullRenderDevice
;RenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
;RenderDevice=PixoDrv.PixoRenderDevice

change it to look like this

[Engine.Engine]
;RenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice
RenderDevice=D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice
;RenderDevice=Engine.NullRenderDevice
;RenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
;RenderDevice=PixoDrv.PixoRenderDevice

Furthermore you can go2 the [D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice] section and change settings, but since you seem inexpierenced with this id suggest you just go in2 the game and change the settings there. hope this helps
basically I'm guessing eather ut2004 is useing dx 8.1 the recent patch adds dx9 support/use/what ever to the game plays better /better iq

Yeah, I was really wondering about that when tweaking the INI. It didn't work at the time.

Well, there is no "start" thing in that system folder, it's only som bech logs, and some other files but nothing like it was in UT 2003.

Are you sure you installed the patch after I installed the patch it was there, the exact same bench utility as with 2003.
Its in the system folder not the Benchmark folder.

Yes it does, but you need to edit the ini file to enable it.
