Doom 3 Sound Issue - Not stutter I think

As far as I can tell I have no sound issues in the game other than in the rendered cutscenes, like the first briefing in the game from the Sarge.

Basically what happens is that the last part of the last word in every sentence is cut off and it moves on to the next sentence.

Like if it were to try to say, "Find the scientist. Bring him back. Make him worship a demonic pumpkin. Then laugh in his face." It would sound like, "Find the scienBring him bMake him worship a demonic pumThen laugh in his face."

No other game exhibits this issue. Not Far Cry, not America's Army, not BF1942.

Using M-Audio Revolution 7.1 with latest drivers.

AMD Barton 3200
Asus A7N8X Deluxe 1.04
1GB ram
Radeon 9800 Pro flashed to XT
Revo 7.1
XP Pro - SP1a w/ DX9.0c

That's weird, it sounds like a hardware specific problem almost, but I saw some weird sync problems in some of the cut-scenes too- (Fortissimo III) just not anything like what you are talking about. I think what I saw was just part of the game..

Did you try using a different sound card just to see if there's a difference? That might be the only thing you can do.

Surround Speakers: No (using headphones)
Reverse Stereo: No

I can't find any other audio options in the game menu.

i was under the impression that this game did not use H/W audio at all...so I doubt that is the problem here...but im at a loss otherwise.

Oh I'm pretty sure it uses hardware D3D at least-- maybe not eax or any crap like that (thank god), but I think it uses my Fort III's hardware acceleration to lessen CPU cycles needed for making that "great sounding" sound...

Could be wrong though...

like, it doesnt use HW 3d sound or (yes) eax...its all run through the proc i think...

whats wrong with eax...i like environmental audio... except when you get that reverb bug that KILLLLLLS my ears.

Eax is Creative's and no one else's, so every other card manufacturer has to run it through sensura- Not as fast- plus Direct sound 3D sounds great if done right, and it is much faster.

Yes, I bet money D3 uses Hardware supported D3D.

Faster, yes. Awesome audio environments and realistic object interaction, no. Still great for most things.

Yeah, it's fine for me if I have directional accurate sound with a good sub/center channel..

All EAX is are a bunch of filters- and echoes.. I'm running EAX in FarCry via the Fort-III and it sounds ok, but not great- I think it would sound better on an Audigy2 probably...

What did I win?
