Quake 1 is probably my fav. It pretty well started the full blown Multiplayer mode...

And what makes it more interesting is the fact that people still play it widely... regularly.. and people are making it look better then Quake 3 even...

I do not like MP games, Tapping on your KB until the key's fly around, just to survive against cheaters is not my type of fun, .....ok ok getting to old for it counts to..

Oh jeez...
Had to be Quake 3 Arena. Not for the PC at least at first, but for the
Sega Dreamcast.

How many days, months, years, did that game hook me? Way too many.

The playing on the DC was really very competitive. Everyone
had the same hardware, and most were limited to same game
tweaks and cfg.'s Lotta fun. Even just coming up with an
online player name was of tantamount and paramount importance.

Went to the local Quake-con in 2001.
What amounts to basically a slightly cooler version of a Star Trek
convention. Have you seen the people who go to those things?
I was that hooked. Playing a pre-release RTCW was cool.

The DC actually made me wanna buy a PC, and forego consoles altogether.

Still find that ironic and wonder how strange that looked to Sony's
and Nintendo's strategic and statistics department, as 1,000's
of others did the same.

I used to be hooked on Quake 1 Team Fortress back in the day, havn't to this day found a game I've enjoyed as much, although some Tribes 1 & 2 mods are fun in a similar way. Quake 3 Fortress is pretty cool but my narrowband lags too much for it.

been playing clanwars for a couple of years now, from UT via UT2003 to UT2004, and i still don't know which i like best. UT has great scaling, maps and flow but the netcode sucks, UT2003 had the best netcode so far but limited everywhere else. UT2004 is UT2003-RTM only the netcode isn't up to par just yet, in a patch or 2 it will, just like the beta 2004 (UT2003) . with patch 3270 UT2004 is beginning to get the overhand
anyhow love them all.

rtcw is nice as well and i hope to get a hold of ut2004 soon.

My favorite is still Serious Sam SE, the outdoor expanses, the scenery, the weapons (Cannonballs! - hilarious!)...
