On the subject of powervr, have you guys looked recently at some of the dreamcast graphics? like soulcalibur? those cards were WAY ahead of their time IMO.
Dreamcast had some excellent graphics in my opinion. It's just a damn shame that so many people shunned it in favour of the PS2 (yuck ), it would have been capable of some great things.

I can't comment on the 3dfx/PowerVR thing, as I had never owned a pc prior to August 2001 (the one i'm still using I might add).

far as I understood the dream cast system was a flop... No body shunnied it it just had bad pr or a bad rep. People didn't say good things, the setup was bad so it was "nothing" compaired to other systems....

I can't remember wasn't dream cast pay to play?

Obviously you never used a dreamcast it wasnt pay to anything, apart from buying the games of course. I still think the dreamcast games were graphically the best in their day. I also liked the 3Do in its day, another flop.

Seems not always the best consoles win the wars - but certainly a lot of this is down to promotion/advertising campaigns! Look at Sony for instance, two of the worst technical consoles on the market and massive successes.

Logla has a spectacular aura aboutLogla has a spectacular aura aboutLogla has a spectacular aura about

for me it is the Voodoo2. It was the ability to hook up two in SLI which really got me interested in what was inside of a pc.

After adding the second V2 to my very first pc, I was hooked on hardware and therefore that is my choice.

If I had a second choice it would definatley be the 9700Pro. The leap in performance was unreal and then of course I had just switched from using nvidia chips to the ati and I have never looked back.
