It's quite visually stunning. Gameplay takes some getting used to, though.

I'm pretty sure that's just the Serious Sam 1 engine. Serious Sam 2 is still in the works.

Here's a mini-review stolen from the Serious Sam forums:

"After actually trying (yes, trying) to play the game, it's now obvious why the publisher did not want to release it. It is the worst, most buggy game I think I've ever seen. Right from the very start, it would not accept my controls binds. I use right mouse for forward movement and it did that OK, but then it bound EVERYTHING else I clicked on to the right mouse as well. I finally overcame that by binding ONE button at a time and shutting the game down and restarting it between EVERY bind. The mouse is just a Logitech MX310 with default Windows drivers. Nothing odd going on there.

OK, then we get into the game and my guy is firing non stop (left mouse) until he runs out of ammo and I have not touched a single button yet. My mouse is inverted when I never set it that way, so I go in the menu and click invert mouse....back in the game, the mouse is still messed up so I went back and unchecked invert mouse, and that fixed it.

I had next and previous weapon bound to my mouse wheel forward and back, but when I rolled the wheel, dude tossed a grenade. WTF? The nade made a dull thud sound and emitted a pathetic looking smoke effect.

The game was running at about 12 frames per second at 1024x768 on my XP2700, BFG Geforce 6800GT OC, with 1 gig dual channel PC2700 that gets about 180 FPS in Serious Sam with maxed graphics at 1280x960. The mouse movement was all laggy. There was nothing but an open field! Nothing! And it's running like poo! This rig runs Far Cry at 80 FPS for crying out loud!

It looked just horrible. The lighting was messed up, the colors all saturated. Just terrible. The pics you've seen do it justice, trust me.

Next I wandered around long enough to come up on a group of bad guys. They were standing completely still aiming their guns at nothing. I instructed my team to kill them all...and they stood there looking at the grass, completely ingnoring my. I walked in front of the nearest bad guy. Taunted him. Spat on his shoes shot him in the kneecaps and still they all stood perfectly still, oblivious. I killed them all one by one, and not one of them so much as looked toward me.

That was enough. I uninstalled it and will never try to play it again. It's no wonder none of the reviewers appear to have played beyond the first level. there is no need to, if the game is even actually playable betond that. I doubt it is.

Worst load of crap I EVER saw! Bar none!"
