Doom 3 sound OOPMF from guns?

I have formatted my PC and suddenly, the OOMPF sounds from the guns are really weak... Before they were nice and hard but now, a dull thing... I don't get it, my sound card is totally maxed out drivers....

Just in case, did you perhaps use some sound mod before? The game weapon sounds are pretty dull on overall. If not, how is the base when you play music or other games? What sound hardware do you use?

You might have forgotten to change your speaker settings, or have sample rate conversion quality set to best performance. I know that the desktop speakers setting when using headphones takes a lot of the bass out of the sound for example, very noticeable.
