CS: Source Release Imminent!!!
Spoonman @ 10:03 pm pdt - cstrike: source - important - 70 comments - hot topic
You heard right, Half-Life Fallout has gotten word that Counter-Strike: Source in its entire, non-BETA form will be released NEXT WEEK to those who purchase Half-Life 2 through Steam. In a (somewhat) surprising move, Steam subscribers will be able to purchase Half-Life 2 next week and can begin playing Counter-Strike Source immediately. Half-Life 2 and the other games will be available later on when Valve releases them. Keep in mind that in order to bask in the glory of the full, retail version of CS: Source so soon, you must pre-order Half-Life 2 via Steam. Our good friends at Half-Life Fallout have more details in the form of this e-mail:
From Gabe Newell:
The Half-Life 2 offers have been finalized. Details are pasted below. The Steam offers will be available for purchase next week. Those who purchase via Steam, will receive the final version of Counter-Strike: Source immediately. Half-Life 2 and other games in the Steam offerings will be made available to purchasers upon their release.
Still no definitive date on when Half-Life 2 will be released, but the purchase plans for the retail and Steam versions have been made available, see below for the complete list of options. Thanks to Half-Life Fallout for breaking this totally freakin' awesome news.

And a bit more here

Those who purchase via Steam, will receive the final version of Counter-Strike: Source immediately. Half-Life 2 and other games in the Steam offerings will be made available to purchasers upon their release."

OH YEAH BABY !

been waiting for this for a long time (as the rest of the world population)
glad i my preload phase4 is finished allready, guess a lot of people will start to preload now

mm now to choose between gold and bronze, bronze is ok cause it contains the games i want and gold is cool because of the extra merchandise. well i'll see when pricing is revealed.

When I can drive to a store and physically get the game; or at least buy it and download over Steam (when it gets activated) then I'll be satisfied. This is just another step in a long road to playing this game but at least it's some sort of progress.

With the legal battle with VUG now who knows when we'll see it.

No, you cant activate the preloaded hl2 when you purchase hl2 via steam, to my knowledge, hl2 will be available to activation ,when the game reaches the store shelves or something like that, because Valve wants to release the game for the whole community, not earlier to the people who just happen to get their game from steam.

Can only hope the VU & Valve mess will get sorted out soon .

Exactly. They'll both be hurting if they don't get it out by the Christmas season.

That high review score from the U.K. PC Gamer sure sounds promissing; only time will tell as to when we'll be running around killing head crabs w/our crowbars.

/me runs away from SiikeMiike's sig.
