Big Grin Nintendo "DS" is official

The once codenamed nintendo, nintendo DS has now been officially named the DS, meaning Dual Screens. It was redesigned and now is much slimmer than before. It now has a thinner black base and angular platinum flip top cover. The buttons have been enlarged and some even reconfigured for optimal use!!! It also now includes a new storage slot for the touch screen's stylus, and its speakers radiate stereo sound (no EAX, bummer), with headphones or not. With more than 120 games in development, nintendo developing 12 of them itself, this is a portable gaming device to be rekonned with. I would buy one happily. Another 100 companies have signed up to develop games for it as well-alright for DS!!!
>>>Its got dual screens, chat functions, a touch screen, wireless capabilities, voice recognition-yay
>>>It aint got the net (so no MMORPG like the N-gages pocket kingdom (''_) -boo

Well, we'll see about this one.

edit:- sorry folks , but i actually found out the DS will support online gaming.....

The PSP will rock the market harder...

The processor speed is comprable to lower-end computers on a handheld the size of a cell phone.
Plus, the whole "two screens" gimmick is kind of lame, IMO.

PSP is like 400 dollars, and has a maximum of 2 hour battery life.

the DS will rock hard. all game boy games ever made, plus the new DS games (which look amazing). wireless connectivity and gaming with friends. the DS is also powerful enough that i bet with a flash linker they will have full 100% speed + sound SNES emulators.

Thumbs Up!

That's true...

With a Li-Ion battery though, the PSP's battery life magically jumps to 12 hours...and it's fully rechargeable. Hey, I think Nintendo's handhelds have always been awesome(GBA SP kicks ass) and their first-party software support is better, yet Sony's third-party software support is better than anyone's currently.

What I'd love to see is a Microsoft handheld that just flopped them into the ground. They need to be humbled.

PSP looks good, but DS will be more fun. However, because PSP is from Sony I think it will sell more. People will compare them as mini GC and mini PS2. They'll think the mini PS2 will be worth more.

I think both will definitely do fine, but the ds is a lot more interesting to me.

IDK...the Dual Screen thing may be cool for a survival horror game...like have a monster crawl through the top screen into the bottom one or some other sh!t...

Nokia has a greater advantage like was said in the NAG news letter if they put their gaming technology on other models of their phones, thus placing gaming in everyone's pockets and increasing the chances of gaming going mainstream. And, last time i checked, Nokia sold more phones by FAR than Sony sold PS2s or Nintendo sold gameboys.

Advantage Nokia.

Yea, but if you read Maxximum PC they still said they would pick the Gameboy Advance and a phone over just the engage. I personally am more interested in the DS as I feel Nintendo really knows this market well. I think the PSP is just too expensive for a handheld.

i personally buy motorolas just because I hate how nokia(who originated as a lumber/saw mill company, btw ) advertises their nGage and tries to seel games rather then phones.

I know the first N Gage was sh*t but i got an N-gage QD and so far, all i can say is............. nothing. I'm speechless. Its a much better console now than it ever was.
By the way, thats not the only reason i like it. I once had an IBM PC100 with a P1 100Mhz. Now, you may not know this, but the N Gage has a 100Mhz processor. Its really good to see a console with a 100Mhz processor just like my IBM(thats now in its rightful place high atop a shelf in my room) that has decent graphics but is all retro. Go N Gage.
Yes, thats right boys, copy paste is all i did.......

All I can say is that Nintendo is on crack for not putting an analog stick on there. Anyone try playing a 3D game without analog? Let me tell you that after 15 minutes it is NOT fun. Though I have not heard anything about online gaming. LAN yes, online I dont think so(especially since the big N is so against online play).

right on. me too

when I was a kid, consoles were forbidden. We were allowed old computers...nothing more.

Now I just dont care. I'll borrow a console on a very limited basis to play one game once in awhile but thats it.

well i stick with my keyboard and mouse too...but my system doesnt fold up in half and fit in my pocket. does yours?

oh how i wish it did!

i think the d-pad is fine...when im playing portables, i prefer 2d action/adventure games anyways. fps does not belong on consoles or portables. period.

the games i want on ds are some new castlevania and remakes of classics, like ff3/6
