Eve mobile gaming console

[color=DeepSkyBlue]VIA[/color] has unveiled a mobile gaming console named "Eve". The unit is powered by a [COLOR=Yellow]533Mhz Eden-N processor, which is x86 based. [/COLOR] It also carries a 20GB hard drive

and [COLOR=DarkOrange]128MB of SDRAM [/COLOR] (just like mine!!!!!!!

, have always believed in SD even if its slower, dont know why!

). Graphics are provided by an S3 UniChrome Pro core, and sound output is via up to six channels. The system supports [COLOR=Lime]DirectX versions ranging from 7 through 9 [/COLOR]

, as well as [COLOR=Magenta]EAX 1.0 and 2.0.[/COLOR]
The display is 4" LCD with a resollution of 640X480. Networking is by means of 802.11b wireless[COLOR=Red]>>>which is crucial to a mobile platform!!!!!![/COLOR]

Interestingly enough, the Li-ion batteries have been done in hot-swappable style.

Isn't that the nano-itx board? I have a media pc built using the via nemiah 1ghz mini-itx board. The nano-itx is a good size, but too clunky for a handheld. Everyone wants handhelds in their pocket now.

edit: also, is the inquirer a legitimate website? I've never heard of them before. Let's keep an eye out to see if a gaming site covers this like ign or gamespot.

Like I said, even the nano-itx is too big for a portable console. Plus they aren't going to make any money on games since this just plays regular old pc games (literally old pc games). The sell console at a loss and make it up on games strategy isn't going to work here. If they want to make anything off the system it's going to be 400-500 dollars. I'm not paying that much for a fat boomerang without a keyboard.

Ewww, looks pretty ugly to be honest.

The nano is actually pretty small. And look at that mouse. I have that exact mouse. ITS pretty small too. Yea this is a big clunky I guess but its gunna be about as wide as a GBA. Taller obviously but still. I think this is a good idea.

BTW nano-itx boards arent on the market so you wouldnt have used one. Mini-ITX are out. Those would be too clunky indeed.

I could build myself one of these things, and probably make it prettier AND faster

It's using a nano-itx, that board isn't cheap at all. A 1ghz mini-itx will run you 150-200 dollars alone. Like I said this thing is going to be 400-500 dollars because they can't possibly sell it at a loss.

What you look at are MINI-ITX boards.

the nano-itx isnt really purchasable at the moment.

Thats what i thought when i first saw it, but then again, why go to all the trouble??? You'd rather just buy it then download a skin for it from the net or something. Either that or wrap it in a plastic bag but the screen while walkign around playing it.

So you're saying something new is coming out, it's smaller than anything else out there, and it's going to be cheaper? This isn't computer la-la land. Newer and smaller means more money. I did a froogle for nano-itx and the starting price was in the 300's.

then again its 533mhz and the nano-ITX board i believe is faster than that. I cant remember. I'll have to dig up the press release stuff I had earlier.
