WOW! I didn't know there WAS a demo out for it. Thanks for the link Zardon. Gonna go slurp it up now! NFS: Porsche has been a favorite of mine for a long time, I just have to check this sucker out!

I heard that the PS2 version of the game is the best, according to most reviewers I have spoken to and reviews I have read. I'm not sure about PC as this statement was about the 3 consoles

Well, if the demo is any indication, the PC version will be lamo. It hard-locks my PC forcing me to hit the dreaded reset button after only about 1 minute of play. Certain resolutions would whack out and look ridiculous, and then it locks. I'm using those "bugfix" 2.4 drivers too. If they can't even make a "1 track & 2 car" demo work right, what's the "finished" product going to be like? Go check out some of the posts I left at EA's message board through needforspeed.com in the PC threads. I'm called RaydarRider there.

The physics model stinks, no dashboard view and the "Osama Bin Laden" police force dropping barrels of fire on ya is just plain dumb.

I'll wait until this game hits the bargain bin or comes with some piece of hardware before I get it. I'm severly disappointed that NFS: HS2 could be so bad after 5 NFS games, 6 if you count the "online-only" Motor City Online.

You'd think that with todays high-end PC's, they could make the game more intelligent. NOT!!! I slowed down for a turn and the AI cars just pushed me around the road like I wasn't even there. DUH!!!!

Pretty graphics do not make a game great. This game is proof of that. Bummer!

well it seemed ok when I played it, didnt lock out or crash, but I have to say the engine in the demo certainly isnt up to the superb coding levels of something like Mafia which is silky smooth on my 9700 at any res with 16 aniso and 2 fsaa.......

as for the game, well I prefer games like GTA3 or Mafia, but it looked like a good enough racing game...... dont know about long term playability ...

I figured out what is causing it to lock with an 8500. You MUST back off the "effects detail" at least 1 notch from maximum, then it will play fine. You can crank EVERYTHING else.

I am a fan of the NFS series (have em all)

The first NFS Hot Pursuit was great and all the fan support was great with all the car mods and maps etc.

It looks like EA has another winner with beautifull graphics, maps, and cars(they get better every time).

Though i have to see the whole game to have a better opinion but so far its looking good.

I really dont know how a slower setup is gonna perform with it as i remember the days of my older P3 and ATI 128 16mb that twitched alot and had to turn down alot of settings to get it to run smoothly on NFS porche unleashed.
And i did get some weird strobing with this demo (frame loss) but im not sure what it was. (could be my HDD needing a defrag or maybe the drivers..not sure)

.

Yea but take a look at your blazing computer. The game still gets choppy for me at 1024X768 2fsaa, max details...damn you must be happy!

I still pull out my old NFS cds and play them from time to time, so I'm sure there will be a long term playability. And considering I just picked up a Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP wheel for a steal, it as well as several other of my racing games are going to breathe new life on my computer again.

Default Post Disappointing

I love everything else except the helicopter dropping bombs wtf?!

I loved the road blocks with the spikes and everything else in the old one but the helicopter dropping bombs is just lame.

If i wanted that kind of driving game i will play GTA3

I was really hoping for a more realistic game. You cant blow up, the damage inflicted is lame, and the cops dont bust you.

Maybe it is just the demo but the cop aspect is week

The graphics are awesome, and the sounds are great. I cant wait to see the other cars.

But i give it a C+ B-

How they programmed the cops just ruined the game

gamecopyworld had a NoCD fix for the game now. Currently, it's in their forums. I imagine it will be on the site proper soon. http://www.fileforums.com

I have verified it to work in XP and 98. Save that CDROM drive.

Too bad they didn't port the PS2 version and instead they used the totally unplayable Xbox/GC one to do this. What a major let down from EA.

Default Post same problem as demo??

have you tried to back off the "effects detail" at least 1 notch from maximum, this fixed crashes in the demo version.
