looks good, unfortunately initally its only on the PS2. hard to come back to 640x480 gaming after 1600x1200 with AA and AF on the PC. I hope Sony paid several millions for the priviledge.

Yep. Thats one of the reasons i hate and love gta at the same time. it always comes out for the PS2 before the PC and then takes like 6months to get ported to PC after which it takes anywhere from 3 to another 6months just to get shipped to each and every one of our shores. That sucks big time.

Why does Rockstar do this to us ???

i played gta III and vice city on ps2 and pc and i can say that its a lot more fun to play it on the ps2!!

take your controller, sit down on a comfortable carpet and just play

thats a lot more fun than sitting in front of your computer in an uncomfortable seat and play gta with mouse and keyboard

i really recommend you to try it on ps2

I don't mind going onto TV to Console and back but seriously, after the horrible Vice City, I'd rather kill myself than buy this. It's not a new game, just an expansion

Apparently you need to come over to my house and see how good those two titles run with FSAA and AS set to full. You'll never want to go back to your place again!!!!!!!

rockstar is dead for me.

now they're just interested in money. gta 1 and 2 were cult classics, great games. dont get me wrong, gta 3 was good too...but then they just started churning out crap titles.

gta:sa looks exactly the same as gta3, just with some added graphical elements.

Hey man, its all in the gameplay, nothing else man. i agree gta-vc was a bit too short, but it was ultra mega hard core.

It actually made you feel like you were a dude named "tommy verceti" and you ran the flippin town.

im too young to say whether gta1 and 2 were really good games, i played gta for some days, but i dont wanna say that these games were really cult classics...
for me, gta3 on ps2 is the best game ever and as i played vice city i was really disappointed, too. i think it was a bad game, just made to earn money...

but what i see in the san andreas trailers is really really cool

and of course, you cant improve the gta graphic on the ps2 very much, because the hardware is the same than 3 years ago...

so, whatever, ill buy this game and play it till i fall asleep

You know I hear this all the time, how wonderful these games play on the PS2 and how crap they run on the PC. its rubbish ! the PC version plays EXACTLY the same if you have the hardware at 1600x1200, meaning massive improvements on the resolution, sharpness and its even smoother than the distinctly average PS2 graphics. I mean maybe im spoilt now, but when I fire up a console the graphics just look so bland, blocky and it totally ruins my enjoyment of the game. Yes, the game plays great on the PS2, but hell why not have the option of 1600x1200 with improved everything (as well as the great fun game?)

if you dont like the keyboard then get a PS2 gamepad adaptor and revel in the power of a good PC setup.

Rockstar are in this for the money. they make these games exclusively for Sony for the first 4-6 months due to a massive cash exchange then port them over to PC and others. Meanwhile they bitch about how much they lose due to PC piracy and then we get a petition from the community everytime these are released. What about the thousands playing illegal GTA DVD games on doctored PS2s? is this ok because Sony are "subsidising" Rockstar? bleh. Only way PC users will get GTA games same time as Sonys PS2 is when bill gates dips into his pocket and either buys rockstar into the MS games network or gives them a massive cash bonus for release on PC.

i know gameplay matters.

I was using the graphics argument to prove that they're only in it for the money. games have an average of almost a 2 year cycle...and gta:sa is coming out so soon. they used the same engine, without really upgrading at all, so they wouldnt have to have that as another expenditure.

how can you say rockstar is a crap company, nacht, it is one of the best companies currently making games for the ps2, i admit that some are shit, but with games like gta and max payne 2, there will be better times to come.

And in my view playing gta on ps2 is much better cause u can sin on the couch, crank the surrond sound and play it on a huge tv, as well as many other privlages, sure the graphics arnt as good but, theyr good enogh to make me damn happy,
this game better be worth it cause ive been waiting a long time for it, and it better not have any more slow fucking cars.

But you could do that with the pc, just its not your average player whose got the luxery of hooking his pc up to a huge telly and usb'ing his ps2 controller...still, it can be done.

Who says you cant sit on the couch and look at a computer?
Sitting 10" away from a 15-20" screen ends up being the same thing as 5' away from a 20" screen(at least to my eyes.)
Theres surround sound for computers.

Rockstar is definetly just making expansions because they know there are ppl out there that will go to the store and buy them regardless.

To me the only games that are better on computers are FPS and games that are just incredible graphics wise... which gta is not.

Hey...Red Dead Revolver's Multiplayer was really cool...and the gunplay kicked ass. Where else can you fire six shots into some poor sap and have it look so cool?

those games were rad. (take 2 is a subsidery of Rockstar games...)

and i do agree they havent made any significant changes to GTA-SA and are using the same engine, but, in case you didnt notice, rockstar do this so that they're games run nicely on a large amount of pc users, hence allowing more people to enjoy the game(play) besides making them a fat sum of cash$$$(which is still probably the main reson they do it anyway, and my reasons just a spin off, but a good one none the less

).
I think they started doing this after people complained about how slow GTA3 ran and then they went and cleaned up the code and now GTA-VC looked better, but ran faster, and so they would like to keep with this trend.

you could just open the car ini file and change every cars settings like weight handeling suspension acceleration top speed etc etc... no lie that was the first gta on the pc... never tried it in vc

ive read that there will be 2 versions released in germany:
1. fsk16 (16yr old people and older): cut version, german subtitles
2. fsk18 (18yr old people and older): uncut version, german subtitles

i hope that there will be the two versions on friday in the mediamarkt

my point is this:

yes, gta3 was good....but when rockstar released gta3, it stormed into every store, magazine and house. everyone obsessed over it. rockstar realized this, and started churning out MANY games in a VERY SHORT time span. they were crap, and just made to make money.

i'm with Big Z here. $$ keeps GTA on the PS2 for so long, btu the PC version is well worth the wait.

I have an executive quality high-backed and overstuffed leather arm chair, 7.1 THX surround sound, and a 21" Trinitron monitor(the size of the average tv in a living room), and i WILL wait just so I can get my 1600x1200 with 6xTAA and 16xAF.

Guys, this game is vastly improved from VC, and forget about the size of it

There's so much you can do that its not even funny(eat, get a haircut, work out, get fat, play B-ball, swim...). But yeah, if you've played any GTA you have a good idea of what to expect, but in this case its not a bad thing IMO. Worth the $$ for any GTA fan
