FarCry and Doom3 just how crappy older games look when you play them again. I installed Call of Duty and it just about made me sick when the GFX came up.It looked like a cartoon from the 60s!I uninstalled it again real quick.It was a really great game.........last year.

I know what you mean, I used to play Diablo 2 all the time, and then I started to play this game called Sacred... I tried to go back one day, but it was wayyy too painful on the eyes!

I actually havent felt that way yet... odd...
I actually went from playing the New Thief Deadly Shadows... and replayed the old Thiefs... best ones I think... but I could still easily tolerate the graphics.. and the ability to turn on 6xAA and 16xAF

Ha, yeah, I know EXACTLY what you mean. When I first remembered Final Fantasy 7, the graphics were pretty cool, except for the blocky characters and whatnot. But then when I started it up a couple of weeks ago, I was like "... Uhhh what's wrong with my PS2"

It's very strange... Sorta how you remember your elementary school being all big and grand, and then when you go back to it as an adult, it's like "Wow, this place is small... and crappy"

From what I am reading now in 2 years we will be able to buy a game and take a pic of myself and incorperate the pic of myself into the game.In other words I will be the hero of the game.Or the bad guy.Whatever I wanna be.Just think about the implications of that!Talk about living in a fantasy world.......

D2 beats the hell out of Sacred! Sacred is unplayable due to the ten-thousands of bugs they packed in the game!

COD:UO isn't bad, I played alot of FarCry and i'm currently playing COD...

Diablo 2 does kick ass...Hell, Dungeon Siege is beter than Sacred...too many crappy ass enemies and bugs galore = bad game.

I've got the same problem with almost any PlayStation game...especially NFL GAMEDAY '98. The graphics, collision, and hit detection have to be the WORST I HAVE EVER SEEN in a game, no matter what type it is. In fact, most of the time your rushing yards are completed by running right through the Defensive Linebacker.

QUALITY OVER QUANTITY, PLEASE.

I sorta know what you mean, but I get used to it. I can adjust to 2-D graphics easier than older 3-D graphics. For example, I can play FarCry and go back to play Chrono Trigger, Sonic 3, Earthworm Jim or any of the 2-D games easier than going back to FF7 or Quake (unmodded). I still appreciate Q3 Based games and their graphical prowess.

*Sigh* I figured that Sacred statement would get flamed

Still, I like Sacred, a free expansion pack just came out, and it's actually quite playable now

It still has a few major bugs (such as an enemy or two who can insta kill in very high difficulty levels, but they aren't supposed to!) but most of the major ones related to speed, controls, broken quests, disappearing items, general strangeness etc.etc. have been fixed!

I actually stopped playing for several months, and now I'm pleased to find that it's actually playable

BTW: speaking of inability to play ugly games, I can't wait till I get the Half Life: Source remake!

I love the MechWarrior 3 mods that were floating around on the internet for a while. Most older games adapt better to a mod than newer ones do. It makes the same game just that much better. Command and Conquer: Generals has a really cool Venus Wars mod out for it.

Does anyone remember that X-Men mod for Quake 1 way back in the day? It was sooooooo horrible.

The Expansions for MW3 are a thousand times more worthwhile. There were a couple of mods for some Ghost Bear clan missions, Jade Falcon missions, and a few Steiner missions that got cut out of the final game. It's too bad they're not around any longer...

I'm into space-combat games.
My first serious game was X-Wing, had a great time with it. Until I got Tie-fighter. The graphics got better and better. Last year I played Free Lancer. Now I can't even install X-Wing without poking my eyes out.

The trouble with 3D games is that you rate them on how real they look, so they date much worse than the really old games. 2D oldies like Pac Man, Dig Dug and Donkey Kong last longer because they major on gameplay, and the game idea has very little to do with reality.
