I played it last night for a couple hours with my FF wheel and pedals.. The GFX engine is really nice, the car handling is definitely arcade, no sim here.. The high jump competition is freaking funny, the game seems like it will be fun.

It could be excellent with better/more realistic physics, but I guess the world wants arcade racers these days. The damage modeling and visuals are top notch though, pretty impressive.

Yeah, I agree with you there BWX, this game is on my want list as soon as it gets out in stores here in Sweden.

I've been waiting for such a game.

Man it's going to be a crazy autum/christmas, I'm also buying HL2, NFSU2, Medal of honor Passific assault. I'm getting poorer after buying those games but I'm going to have lots of fun though

Rayder is just super!Rayder is just super!Rayder is just super!Rayder is just super!Rayder is just super!Rayder is just super!Rayder is just super!

I played it. Runs well for a demo. The physics on the dirt track is atrocious....fish-tailing all over the place and the auto-braking makes it even worse when cornering. The tarmac level is decent though and handles much better. I didn't care for the 'crash-test-dummy' high-jump mini-game myself. Just seems gimmicky to me. Crash-and-bash racing is what I want out of it and it appears that this game will have that in spades. The difficulty seems a little steep....but I didn't play it that extensively to get a real feel for the controls. I'm using a Saitek Dual-analog Rumblepad....

Graphics are pretty good and ran pretty smoothly on the rig in my sig at 1600x1200 4xAA 8xAF. There were times when the framerate would bog a little, but it wasn't show-stopping and appears to have nothing to do with resolution. As expected, the damage modeling is exquisite.

One thing I noticed is that , for all the damage the car takes, there never seems to be a point where the car stops running. You can drive down the road with your engine on fire. You also get no degradation to the (already bad) handling or engine power.

Yep, the game is severely arcade-ish. I hope the final release will be tweaked a little more to improve the handling.

This is one of the very few games on my must-have list. That hasn't changed, though I'm a little less impressed with it after playing the demo.

Its far from perfect but really enjoyable - not sure how that will translate to many weeks of gaming mind you.

I had a funny accident, crashed right into the back of another car which had stopped, my driver then went through the windscreen, over the car in front and landed on the roof of the car in front of that, then the car drove on with the dummy hanging off the roof. looks like it will be quite a bit of carnage with this one

I played again this game is really fun, the graphics are wonderful and performance to, but the best thing got to be the psychics and the interaction with the course and all this driver out of the seat when driving the opposite way is very funny.

I loved the high jump too, btw my record is 275 m.

I've been waiting paitently for this game ever since it was announced. After playing the demo I think they delivered what they promised. It's a bit on the arcade side for my tastes but it's quite obvious that they didn't set out to build a racing sim so I won't hold that against them. Given the physics of the world and the car damage, it looks like it will keep plenty of people entertained in great style. The addition of some crazy stunt options will only add to the overall enjoyment. I imagine the novelty will wear off sooner than later, but in the meantime I expect to have some great laughs over this game.

I'll definitely add it to my collection, though I see it more as a novelty than anything else.

It would be a lot better if the car handling was more realistic- as it is, the game isn't even fun for me because the car handling physics is so painfully simple... Of course I like Richard Burns Rally, and most people can't even play it, so I imagine I am in the minority.

A tip for a bit more control when playing through the keyboard. Edit options.cfg and set "Settings.Control.DigitalSteeringMaxSpeed = 2.5000" and "Settings.Control.DigitalSteeringMinSpeed = 1.5000", or to similar values depending on how much more control you want. Before I felt that one could oftenly not turn the car when you needed to.

Promising demo, though I hope the full game to have some all over improvements on controls and physics. Perhaps being able to select different cars and/or setups for different courses can make a good difference. At least it gets me dreaming back to the days of playing the good old Screamer 2.

Well it's hard to say, I've only tried the demo so far, but I think that this is one of those games that you play alot in the begining cause it does not exists similiar games on the market and then you forget about, but thats my impression, I bet you get a laugh so in the begining but doing the same thing later on might be boring.

I'll let you know in a months or so what I feel about the game then.

The graphics are really amazing to me though. If you get into a spot where there are 7 or 8 fully detailed and damaged cars in your view, it really looks quite impressive. Even at 1200 x 900 with AA and AF enabled I always got very smooth and playable framerate. They really did a great job in that respect. I wish they came out with a "Sim" mode (driving physics) or something, then this game would really be great.

Well actually I was thinking about a "slightly more realistic" mode.. I played with a FF wheel and it was pretty good, but has potential to be more "accurate" I guess you could say.

I'm not thinking of a mode where it handles like RBR, (I think that would be fun though)- I'm talking about a mode where it handles somewhere in between the way it is now, and RBR....

To clarify, I don't want to change the way it handles now, just add another mode. (not that it will happen anyway - I know it won't, I'm just thinking out loud here)

Well I have to say I hope they tweak the handling a little, I found it even a little "skiddy" when I played it, like the car was on ice... but its hard to judge a full game on a very small demo.

I don't know how you guys do that... At 1280x1024 I get great frames (70 is my resfrsh rate... drops maybe lowest to 55/60) but as soon as I put max AF and AA, I got 18 fps!!!
