Half-Life 2 For Sale?

If you have purchased a copy of Half-Life 2, we are sorry you are still waiting to play. This is not Valve's choice. Vivendi is insisting that the game has not yet been released, and has threatened that Valve would be in violation of its contract if we activate the Half-Life 2 Steam authentication servers at this time.

I have to say that whole 'unlocking' thing is pretty fair and equitable IMO. All the local stores where I live follow the release dates like most of the rest of the world. I always seem to stumble on a spoiler because I'm perusing forums rather than playing the game. I've alleviated the store purchase this time anyway by preloading.

This reminds me of when the Next gen cards first came out. people were having posts like "my 6800U finally came!", and then everyone else on the forum is like "we dont believe you unless we get some SS!". nobody trusts anybody anymore hehe
