Okay... What do you do?
Hey, I got a interesting poll for you guys... Just answer and tell me why? And all...
![]() Cuz I^m wondering, is it better to run a really high resolution with no AA or AF or run a very low reso with Max Quality settings BUT achieve a higher FPS? |

Higher resolution means you can get more of the image on the screen. if you dont know what I mean try taking a screengrab of a game at 1024x768 and look at the size of the area you are looking at then crank it to 1600x1200. You will see there is more information on the screen.
At a lower resolution jaggies are more apparent so you need to compensate more with AA but you can never get back that screen real estate. 1600x1200 0/2 or 4aa and 16af is my normal setting. |

i always play my games in the highest i can set.....but also like to meet in the middle.as all games for me act differently.
but will say the averages 1024x768 maxed out.but i do play a few of the older games in a much higher rez. |

My normal setting in games.. if my video card can handle it is 1600x1200 with no AA or AF.. I enjoy the higher resolution more then the lower with AA and AF.. it just feels better for me. Now to wait until I get a card fast enough to handle 1600x1200 With AA and AF

i play at 1200x900 when the game supports it otherwise i play at 1024x768 cause it turns interlaced at 1280x1024 on my monitor

Also factor in how good your monitor is, like if it can handle 1600x1200 with at least 85Hz then by all means try to game at that mode if the performance holds up. My cheap monitor limits me to gaming mostly at 1024x768 to keep the image flicker free, and in such a situation the AA is a real savior. AF however, is always necessary since not using AF means that a lot of the texture quality in a game will go wasted. With modern graphics cards one can at least use 4x AF with very little performance loss, and even that is a lot better than running without AF.
AF also taxes mostly the graphics core while high resolutions and/or AA demands more of the cards memory bandwidth, so if you are gaming at 1600x1200 or maybe 1024+6xAA then you might as well use a high AF setting too since the memory bandwidth is likely to be the primary bottleneck. |

I tend to get motion sickeness, so I need as high a framerate as possible. If its less than 50 FPS, I'm tossing cookies in under an hour...
![]() So even though I have a 9700 Pro now, I'm running CS=Source and HL2 @ 1024x768 w/ medium settings. I'd like to push the AA up a bit if I can.

1152x864 with 2x Temoral-AA and 8xAF. Most of the time these days. But I gotta admit I do love 1600x1200

Generally 1024x768 with or without AA and AF. Depends on the game as well.

Highest resolution and detail levels I can get without noticeable FPS slow downs.

I always go to 1280x1024 first. If I can't play something at that resolution it's time to upgrade. After that I raise whatever else I can like texture detail, draw distance. Finally I tinker with AA and AF and keep going until I drop below 50 fps. I'm never extreme enough to say that I either use AA/AF or don't, so I can't honestly vote in the poll. Put like .5 votes into the 1280x1024 choices :P
