Damnit. I let the bloody thing update steam and HL2 no longer works. I see Halo2 deathmatch and I leap for joy.......until the freakin thing wont open. neither will CS:Source, or HL2. Nothing with the Source engine.

I've tried everything to get the games to launch, all to no avail. I tried deleting the 'platform.gcf' and letting Steam remake the file, deleting my account folder... I tried reinstalling Steam, and running Steam in offline mode. Nothing, nada, zip, zero...

Here in Australia, the forums are just full of people who are having the same drama (me included

) But at the local telco's gaming site, they have 10 servers running HL2DM, and they are constantly full, so someone's getting it to work (the Bastards

). Also, all their CS source servers have been updated, and they are going full steam (sorry

) too!

Oh well; back to Vampires:Bloodlines it is.

PS: Only 960 posts to respectability

I've not let my Steam do any updates since I finally got the game to work OFFLINE last Thursday....or was it FRIDAY? I can't remember now since I spent so many hours just going through the initial installation and then the 11/24 update.

Now, I'm able to play OFFLINE without any problems. I'm not going to let Steam update anything until I see that the Update issues have been resolved.

BTW, the Steam Forums are back up now, too.

All my games work (so far), but I cannot connect to ANY steam internet games. CS:S, HL2dm... I can see all the servers, but it won't connect.. What BS. (all necessary ports are open)

Worse yet the server I usually play on reported that the recent patch has removed them from the master server list. I have it in my favorites as hopefully everyone else does, but without fresh meat it's going to be real quiet until they fix it.

And for everyone complaining about the steam forums being down b/c they don't want everyone to flame....

Come on...you should know by now that whenever there is a sizeable update they shutdown the forums to conserve bandwidth.....this wasn't the first time....
