Farcry 1.3 and x800 pro

hey

okay yesterday i wonted to play farcry over again using the new 1.3 patch that they had released since i haven't played it in a while.
since the last time i played it was when i still had my 9600 xt and was running the game on 1024x768 everything on very high and water in ulta high with no aa af on retail version the game was running very nice.
so now that i had the x800 pro i was expecting to play the game maxed out to 6x aa and 8x af at some decent fps.
since i have seen people with simular systems to mine get like 60 fps and up in those settings.

but when i finished installing the new 1.3 patch and maxed tha game out as far as it can go i wasn't getting very good fps around 20 t 30 fps on 1280x1024 everything very high water on ultra and 6xaa 8xaf.
so when i decided to turn off aa and af al to gether to c what i get it wasn't going any higher then 65-70 so i updated my catalyst driver to 4.11 using driver cleaner with no improvements.
i then decided that i would use ad-aware ccleaner and spybot to clean my system and then defrag my system. all that and no improvements.
yet i can play doom 3 on 1280x1024 on ultra high setting and 4 aa and get 50-60 fps and yet that game isn't really suppossed to run any good on ati products. since ati doesn't support opengl very well??
same with half-life 2 i run that game maxed out with over 80-120 fps

so the only 2 things i could think of was either that i was expecting to much from my x800 pro or that the patch 1.3 requires more performace then the retail.

my system specs are
p4 3ghz 800 mhz fsb
1024mb ddr 466 running at dual-channel
win xp home
gigabyte ga-8ipe1000-g mobo
all drivers up to date
windows updates all up to date

so my question is
should i me getting that low fps in farcry even tho other people are getting much higher on max setting with the same card??
Is there something els i can try to maybe fix this if there is a problem or some kinda tweak that will incease the performace.

thx very much for any help.
and sry about the long post

my guesss you're expecting a bit much out of it, although it does seem to me that you shouldn't be droppign to 20...I don't have farcry isntalled tho....you might ask in the radeon drivers forum as well.

I thought you had a pro like the thread starter I see in your signature you have an XT. different card bud, 16 pipe. Also you wont really be seeing much difference with 4 or 6AA if you are running at 1600x1200 just getting the hit.

Sorry I know I'm using a different card but I thought I'd give somekind of benchmark.

hi thx 4 the replays

ya well when i max out farcry as you have but with 1280x1024 as that it my max i get the same fps as if i were to play the game without aa af on.
so that why i thought that there was something els wrong here at least on my x800 pro since no matter if i put aa af on or not i get the same fps(in some indoor areas i get more thought about 5-10)
i would really like if someone with an x800 pro could post what fps they get thx.

o plus i have changed to the latest omega driver with no improvements from the 4.11 cata

and as for the 4.12 cata i tryed that when i was still playing hl2 single player but since then i have uninstalled it and have noticed that i have now an overall system slowdown.
simple applications such as looking at pictures or opening firefox take forever to load up. i dont no if this is resulting in the games performance. becuase as i have said in my first post that other people with simular systems are getting much better fps then i am maxed out including 6aa 8af in ingame settings using x800 pros.
