Best game you HAVE NOT played?

Being a gamer, I've read a lot and learned a lot about what was great in the past and what's great now. With that in mind, there must be games you've all heard were great, but never had the opportunity to play, beat or both!

Why don't I play these games? Some of these games can no longer be enjoyed on the same level as their initial incarnations by myself and thus I can never convince myself to beat them or pick them up. Another reason, is the fact that games cost money and I don't have the money to get them.

Here are some of mine which I thought were great games and never got a chance to enjoy, which is quite shameful for a gamer like myself.

Half Life - Could never get into the game beyond the introduction sequence
Zelda: Link to the Past - Tried it on emulator, but played Chrono Trigger instead.
Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Heard it was great for its time.
Zelda: Wind Waker - Heard it was great action RPG.
FFXI - Final Fantasy online is supposed to be fun.
Diablo 1 and 2 - Played a bit of the first one, but never touched the second for more than 10 minutes.
Metroid Prime: 1 and 2 - I want to play this bad! Maybe getting a GC just for it.
Quake 3 - I've seen awesome deathmatch movies of this and it was played for the longest time, probably still played by a handful of people still!
Resident Evil - Played and beat RE2, RE3 and RE: CV, but never played RE!
Silent Hill - Played and beat SH2, SH3 and playing SH4, but never could get into SH.
Metal Gear Solid and MGS3 - Could never get into the game and pass the first area, however I did beat MGS2 and enjoyed it. I want to play the remake on the GC and the sequel, MGS3.
World of Warcraft - Blizzard's first MMORPG. Sounds very fun
GTA: San Andreas - GTA is always amusing
Final Fantasy 7 - One of the driving forces as to why PSX was so popular, but I never could get far into that game.
Megaman X7 + X8 - Not worth the amount retailers/Capcom is charging for, but I'd like to play them.
Final Fantasy 6 - I would love to beat this game.
Gunstar Heroes - Started, but never beated.

That's just a small list of games I wish I could have enjoyed. I do recognize them and I know the impact they've done in the gaming industry.. List yours

For me:

Sonic 4(which was never released in the U.S.) for Sega Genesis
Gunstar Heroes 2(which was never released in the U.S.) for Sega Genesis
Tech Romancer for Sega Dreamcast(played the demo, never the full game)
Skies of Arcadia for Sega Dreamcast(It was stolen from me with 2 hours of gameplay)
Grandia II for Sega Dreamcast(This one was stolen too)
Gran Turismo for PlayStation(I started with GT2)
Twisted Metal for PlayStation(played all the cheesy sequels and TM: Black)
Dead or Alive for Playstation(supposedly a thousand times better than Tekken 1)
Rising Zan: Samurai Gunman for PlayStation(looked quirky as hell)
Ira-Ira-Bou for PlayStation(translates into Irritating Stick, a Japanese game of skill)
Mister Mosquito for PlayStation2(another weird Japanese game)
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance for XBOX(I heard it had skateboarding levels!)

That's all for now...

I started Skies of Arcadia, but never got deep into it.

I beat Grandia 2 for the PC though. Fun game.

Update:

I tried looking up info for Gunstar Heroes 2, but I didn't find anything except that it was never going to happen. I played the original Gunstar Heroes, but I didn't beat it

Gunstar Heroes was pretty hard. I beat it once with my little brother, and it has the lamest ending I've seen in a game(except the first Shinobi). It has BAD @$$ gameplay though.

I didn't know that Grandia II came out on PC...I'll have to pick it up!

It works great as well with AA , but AF is not needed. I did experience minor graphical anomalies, but it was only when they were doing an overview of the town. It also worked great with my GC to USB adapter.

Sweet. You're such a helpful little moderator, aren't you?

Would it be better to run it through a DC emulator?

Nah. Just get the PC version. It's not a major graphical anomaly that will ruin the game, but you'll notice it. You can pick up the game at EB for like $20 CAD.

Perhaps the two later instances of the Prince of Persia games. I played the demo for the first a little bit but got ticked off by a long series of jumping puzzles that wasn't to my liking. This week I tried the latest game and was put off by the fighting in which the outcome felt more like a random clickfest rather than a fighting game, combined with the annoyance of not being able to skip already seen cutscenes. They likely have greatness in them and I loved the original back in the days, but I won't get to play them.

quick list

Will get around to playing...eventually:
- Far Cry
- Korsun Pocket
- Knights of the Old Republic

Stuff I tried and hated, or avoided:

Final Fantasy VII -- i don't understand the appeal of this franchise. tedious.

Quake 3 -- felt the same as Quake 2 to me...

Unreal Tournament (any) -- more Quake mind-numbing shooters

Grand Theft Auto series -- meh. seems like The Sims for violent people

The Sims -- why oh why did this turn into a popular series? crapulescant.

No Style: You should really play through Half-Life Source then. It's a great adventure, and with the new gfx engine it's a blast.

World of Warcraft is also something you guys should try... OMG, the game is sooo good!

Mech warrior series, quake series, and army of darkness (love the movies). Halo series (played demo for 2, not sure what I think, demo was very glitchy on my machine), vice city & san andreas (would like to play them).

metal gear solid 3 surpassed the original in terms of content, originality and gameplay. and to top it off story. it got best story of the year, best sound and best comeback in a series.

trust me, the ending was sad and powerful, there was lots of gameplay and a good balance of cutscenes. but just dont expect it to be a direct sequel to mgs2, as it is a prequel explaining many things in mgs2 (or the basis of it). you will see why big boss was not the villian everyone thought he was

ya played SH2, PS2 loved it. Played SH3, PC hated it. Camera's pissed me off big time. stupid dumb cameras. instead of being so worried about the player seeing themselve walk around they should show more of the direction you're walking in.......Grrrrrrrrrr......Oh and give you a mirror so if anyone want to see themself they can. If it had not been for the camera angles, I would have probably liked it. Never played SH or even knew about 4.
