DS or PSP?

Since the Ds is already out I'm sure that many of you have gotten it, but I was just wondering how many of you want to get the PSP also. They seem to both be very good system, but I think that the PSP is just to good to compete with. Whih one will you get, or will you get both?

The PSP has Madden on it and Grand Turismo 4. Not to mention fun games like NBA Street and NFL Street.

I think that the PSP will have better graphics, I hope it can go farther than 30 feet online, and it has way way way way better games.

Thank you for realizing the superiority of the PSP to the DS. The DS is only getting so many sales because it came out earlier than the PSP. If they came out at the same time, it would be no contest. And the PSP is only $180. That is untouchable.

Same reason I'll be getting one. Just dont think the DS will be able to compete in that respect. And with GT4 being released on it then its a definate purchase as I no longer have my ps2.

PSP all the way! Supperior graphics, more adult gaming, very sexy and stylish, can do MP3 and movies and got GT4 coming out for it one day

To be honest i don't like any of those games, Gran Turismo is such a dull game and i'm not that interested in sports games. I like the DS due to the awesome games that Nintendo bring out like Mario, Zelda etc. But i can understand the PSP being better as it has Multimedia capabilities which is a huge plus but both consoles look great though.

And it puts the DS graphics, online capability, and price to shame. But, becides that they are pretty equal.

Well let's just say, if you like nintendo games, stick with DS otherwise, go to PSP. I love car games so a plus for PSP... I love rally games so a plus for PSP... Actually, it's like comparing the gamecube to the PS2... Gamecube has some perfect games (rogue squadron, zeldas, etc...) which I want but PS2 has sooo much more (gtas...

) and i think history will repeat itself on this mini portable war!

keep in mind there is a forthcoming decoder addon for the DS to allow mp3 audio and mpeg-4 video playback

To the original poster: shouldn't you have entitled this thread 'Are you getting a PSP?'. Not wishing to turn this into an argument, but as soon as the DS is mentioned anywhere you jump in to bash it. Doesn't seem like a sensible discussion of the two handhelds whilst you're doing that.

I'll personally Get both.. I could careless of the "advantages" they both have games that are good.. the ridge racers, gran turismo 4, and wipeout on the PSP.. which is the only reason Im getting it so far.

But it looks like total crap on the DS. On the PSP it looks almost exactly like it does on the Playstation 2.

Well since you're all rabid sony fanboys, I'll offer some facts on the new 'handheld wars' so that people can make informed decisions instead of looking through your sony-colored glasses.

pros:

DS is cheaper
DS has longer battery life
DS plays GBA games
DS folds to protect both screens
DS has a gba slot expansion cart to play mp3/video in the works
DS has wireless lan and websites working for wireless internet play

PSP has better graphics
PSP can play music/video
PSP has wireless lan and wireless internet play

cons:

DS has dead pixels
DS 3-D control can be close to impossible if done wrong (see mario 64 ds) but is proven that it can be done right (see metroid prime hunters)
DS needs a deep pocket to be carried around in

PSP has dead pixels, broken nubs, non-working buttons, and other factory defects that you can expect from a device with its features launching at 180-200 dollars.
PSP has terrible boot times. 25 seconds to boot to a CD.
PSP has terrible battery life. Decent for gaming, but you aren't going to get more than one movie out of it and you don't want a psp on a ten hour flight.

To be honest, comparing the two devices is kinda moot. Sony is again aiming for a single device that does it all while nintendo sticks to developing purely a machine dedicated to gaming. People who buy the DS aren't really interested in mp3/video playback. I don't listen to mp3s or videos as I travel around and if I did, I'd want to do it for more than two hours. And people who buy the PSP aren't really interested in innovation; just the same old stuff that's on the consoles but now portable at a high useability trade-off.
