well i got the alpha wont say how :P do anyways the game laggs on my duron 1 ghz and radeon 8500 anyways i played it for aobut 5 in and i almost S**T in my pats the game is soo scary ill post some screenies in a few mins

How bad is the lag on it? Any idea on FPS? (Gads, I can't WAIT to test it out on all my rigs! Looks like it's card swapping time again.

well by the lagg looks like umm 5-6 fps but im not bad mouthing the game its only ALPHA 0.02 and there is only 3 maps

ill play around with the configs and ill see if i can fix it up but im too scared to play the game its late here

Lol...I've got it too, but I have a severe problem...a Radeon 7500 :-p.

Looks like a slideshow to me ;-), but even in slideshow form really scary!

Especially the sound is excellent!

I know it's Alpha, but I guess I will wait for the next-gen ATI cards, just to be on the save side.

By the way, will ATI change it's naming scheme, I don't think "Radeon 10700" sounds good ;-)!

I got it also, it's something else.

What a trip; the lighting, darkness & creepy sounds. It scares the sh*t out of me.

You cannot put down them zombies, they just keep getting back up!

It sure keeps ya on your toes.

The third map is the best, it's the bathroom scene. Where the monster drags the fat zombie into the bathroom, begins eating him, and then lets him go too hide, scared the sh*t out of me.:o After the monster lets him go, the fat guy gets up and starts walking towards you, with his arms streched out. You blast his ass & he stays down. You walk around, to the shower area section, of the bathroom, and you cannot find the creature anywhere. Too bad, because I was shotgun hungry at the time.

The cuts scenes in the middle of game play is something else. Like in map 2, when you walk in this area, you got these creatures talking evily & how they can smell the fear in your pity human ass self. Becareful, they sneak up behind you, you go to turn around & they slap your ass with there long arms & your dead.

This game will own.

Ok. I've played it and all I have to say is DAMN! When it firsts starts it doesnt really feel like a regular FPS, it feels more fresh and exciting. The noises do have a big impact and they are scary as hell. The game runs smoothly on my system with no problems. The game is pretty damn hard, and I dont like how zombies keep getting back up. Also is there a way to play this game full screen?

You can load E3 demo maps 1-3 using one of the following commands:
map e3/e3_1
map e3/e3_2
map e3/e3_3

To change Doom III resolution, edit DoomConfig.cfg :
r_mode "1"
r_mode "2" etc.
2 is 640x480, mode 3 is 800x600 etc.

Fullscreen:
r_fullscreen 1

other commands:
vid_restart

In your Doom_III\base directory, open the runact.cfg file.

3. Comment out the last line. In other words, add the "#" sign in front of the string "devmap $e3_intro" so it looks like the following:

#devmap $e3_intro

4. Launch the game using the main exe.

5. Press the tilde key to bring down the console (just like Q3)

6. Type the following: exec runact.cfg

7. Hit enter, and then go grab a soda. Seriously, it takes about 5 mins to load all the crap.

8. Once it is done, you can launch the intro movie, or play yourself.

9. From the console, use the following commands:
map e3/intro (Loads intro movie)
map e3/e3_1 (Loads first map)
map e3/e3_2 (Loads second map)
map e3/e3_3 (Loads third map)
map fred/e3bathroom5 (won't work for some people)

Changing controls:
From the console, type: bindlist

This will list all the currently bound keys and their functions. Use the page up and page down keys to scroll through the list. The controls for standard movement are not bound to the regular WASD config, so type the following to put it back to normal:
bind w _forward
bind s _back
bind a _moveleft
bind d _moveright
Check out some of the other bindings, God mode and give health are already bound for you :-)
bind x flashlight (pretty damn useful if you ask me

)

Checking FPS: type com_drawfps 1

find these and change in order as shown:

seta r_shadows "1" set to "0"

It's not really a fix - just someones hacked up .cfg file
C'mon guys - the leaked unreal 2003 alpha a while back was slow and buggy compared to how it was released. Don't expect playable framerates unless ur a 9700 owner

I downloaded this like 3 or 4 days ago...And I finally got around to loading it...And I run it and get to the main menu, then hit single player, it pauses a minute on some other screen and give me this message "Radiant MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close." What's up with this?
