Critical Errors in UT2004, AA:SF, Tribes Vengeance MP Demo
Ok I am having a very annoying problem here and I can't seem to figure out whats going on. First off system specs for you guys.
AMD Athlon XP 3000+ MSI Radeon 9800 Pro (newest Omega's) 1 Gb PC2700 RAM Seagate 120 Gb HD 7200 rpm Western Digital 200 Gb HD 7200 rpm I was thinking of buying UT2004 so I downloaded the demo. I got a critical error and not thinking much of it I decided to buy the game anyway. So I bought the UT2004 DVD ECE and I tried to install but as soon as I launch the installer I get this "Critical Error" UT2004 Setup Build UT2004_Build_[2004-09-02_05.02] OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600) CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 2156 MHz with 1023MB RAM Video: No Video Assertion failed: GetClassInfoExW( NULL, WinBaseClass, &Cls ) [File:.\Window.cpp] [Line: 1059] History: WControl::RegisterWindowClass <- UWindowManager::UWindowManager <- InitWindowing So then I went to a lot of forums like the Atari forums and tried contacting Atari's technical support but they were no help. I tried uninstalling and resintalling drivers, Ive tried ATI Drivers, Omega Drivers. I even downloaded driver cleaner and tried that but that didnt even work. I got pretty frustrated and I saw something about the tribes vengeance mp demo so I installed that but when I started it I got this "Critical Error" No Label Crash Time: 01/13/05 16:54:43 OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600) CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 2155 MHz with 1023MB RAM Video: No Video TV Build Number: 62740 Assertion failed: GetClassInfoExW( NULL, WinBaseClass, &Cls ) [File:.\Window.cpp] [Line: 1262] History: WControl::RegisterWindowClass <- UWindowManager::UWindowManager <- InitWindowing Then I instaled the newest Americas Army and when I run that I get this "Critical Error" No Label OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600) CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 2165 MHz with 1023MB RAM Video: No Video Assertion failed: GetClassInfoExW( NULL, WinBaseClass, &Cls ) [File:.\Window.cpp] [Line: 1048] History: WControl::RegisterWindowClass <- UWindowManager::UWindowManager <- InitWindowing I am greatly confused and like I said I tried things like uninstalling/reinstalling video drivers because I notice in the errors it says "No Video" and I'd imagine thats the problem. It doesn't make sense though because I currently play other games like Half Life 2, CS:S, Joint Operations:Typhoon Rising, Call of Duty, CoD:UO... I figured maybe there was something I could do that maybe my registry was screwed up or something because I haven't always in the past used driver cleaner. I also used to have another video card (Geforce FX 5200) and I used to play Americas Army with that. I was just hoping someone could please help me. Thank you. |

in your BIOS, is init display set to 'AGP' instead of 'PCI', and do you have the latest chipset drivers?

no, AGP is a specialized PCI bus, so it'll read like that.
go itno your BIOS when you boot up(hit Del) and look for 'init disp mode'...make sure it'ss et to AGP also, go to your motherboard's website and update the chipset drivers |

Hmm well I hit del when I was starting up but it said to hit f10 for setup so I did that. That sent me to some screen and I saw an area that said PCI so I changed it to Onboard Video/AGP. I still get the error... Any other help?
Thanks |

Ok I finally fixed it !
![]() I just tried a possible fix of uninstalling then reinstalling direct x. And I ended up not being able to reinstall because I have certain issues with installers. So I decided to uninstall sp2. I did that and now all the games I had errors with work, and now all my installers run properly, so my system is working great! Im going to reinstall sp2 and see if it still works and Im hoping it does, I have a feeling I just had some corrupt system files and they were replaced by the uninstall, hopefully I will get the good files when I reinstall sp2. Thanks for all your help! |

ok bro its look like is not detecting the d3d driver try to edit the ut2004.ini and change one of this options:
[Engine.Engine] RenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice (this meant that you r using d3d) ;RenderDevice=D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice ;RenderDevice=Engine.NullRenderDevice ;RenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice ;RenderDevice=PixoDrv.PixoRenderDevice i can`t explaing to much but to change to opengl driver you should erase the ; and put another ; on(RenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice)so its looks like this (;RenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice disabled),and the opengl driver looks like this(RenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice enabled)by then save the ut2004.ini file and start up the game if you have problems with the 3d3 you may be able to play with the opngl driver. the ut2004.ini is found on c:/ut2004/system ok Hope this help ![]() oops never mind
