Is this a joke? Because it's pretty stupid to train soldiers with a game.

Yeah, what about America's Army? Though I don't think they use it for training.

AA is used for recruiting Full spectrum warrior is more used for training. If they use CS, ill be happy when all the chinese army try and kill us with knives or better still kill each other when they get bored.

US needs to fund military more
The US suffers from a distinct AIM-BOT and WALLHACK gap which will be critical to thwarting the communist threat we face in the 21st century.
Seriously, what videogames do assist with is eliminating hesitation in actual combat. Although playing CS certinaly does not turn everyone into homicidal maniacs, what FPS have been proven to do is to eliminate and second thoughts about pulling the trigger in combat -- it becomes a response to stimulus vs a concious action (which takes longer). As for CS, it might not be as realistic as America's Army or Rainbow Six / Ghost Recon, but it IS better than most of the other FPS out there. The one shot/one skill, realistic weapons behaviour, and emphasis on team tactics makes a big difference.

The wars of the future will be fought not on the soil of foreign countries, but on the grounds of cyberspace...
