Ganking and WOW

I was wandering how bad is the ganking in WOW on the PvE servers?

I just picked this game up today and will be installing it on Sunday but if the ganking is really that bad on the PvE servers I might return it for store credit.

but why didn't you ask before buying the game?

ganking? you mean pick pocketing im a lv 17 rogue and ive still have to use that ability but it only works on NPC's

Mainly because I didnt find it out untill after I purchased the game

do you mean Normal servers or RP servers
PvP servers, which is the one i play on, it gets real bad, gotta know when to do out
normal and RP servers it cant happen on, you have to purposfully go into PvP mode and attack the opposing side.

thats weird i rarely got ganked but ive been dying like crazy mainly because im a lv 17 rogue trying to go on raids and taking on monsters 4 levels above me.

Well there are 3 server types in WoW.

PvE - This is not open PVP, you have pvp disabled unless you initiate PVP by typing /pvp in console, walking into enemy towns / cities, or assist someone on your side with any support spells. If your town is being raided say, by Alliance and your horde, as soon as they step foot in town, or attack a guard, Alliance gets flagged, and you can flag pvp in order to help kill them to save the town or players fighting them(whom flagged pvp as well).

RP - Servers I am not to sure of, since i do not have any characters on there.

PvP - This can get ugly depending on the server your on, or the people you pass. Depending on the server you will out right get ganked by a lvl60 who will not care what lvl you are. It's best at times to travel with a buddy or two, three ect. Without the honor system in place a lot of people have been complaining about the ganking.

Your best bet to get an idea on these servers is to check out the Forums at Blizzards World of Warcraft site.

On another note, they are supposedly releasing a patch for PvE where we aren't going to be able to duel the opposing faction, so no more honorable duels, but I am not sure, its speculation at the moment.
