a bit of Nintendo Revolution info has possibly leaked

Quote:
RUMOR #2: Nintendo has shown its next-generation console to a shareholders' meeting in Japan.

Source: Nintendo fan site 4 Color Rebellion.

The official story: "Nintendo does not comment on rumors, speculation, or napkin sketches."-- Nintendo rep.

What we heard: Previously all but unheard of, 4 Color Rebellion became the center of a lot of attention this week when it published an account from someone who claimed to be present during a Nintendo shareholders meeting. At said meeting, officials from the House of Mario reportedly showed off the next-gen "Revolution" console. The witness said the final name of the console will be the "Nintendo 21," and it will hit the market at the end of this year. It will have a "Home Game function" co-developed with Kyocera which uses an IEEE protocol to wirelessly "locate and communicate with other Nintendo 21s in the vicinity" as well as unspecified handheld game devices. The 21 will also have a pressure-sensitive controller which allows for DS-style rubbing on either the buttons or the grip. For media, the console will use a two-sided disc, 5.4GB-capacity disc with a UMD-esque shell case, and will be inserted into the top of the GameCube-esque machine. The unit will also have a digital A/V outputs and sport an N64-esque logo. The witness even drew a picture of what he recalled (pictured), with notations in Japanese. Interesting? Definitely. Authentic? Who knows? Nintendo wouldn’t comment, so it looks like gamers will have to wait until E3 for the 411 on the Nintendo 21.

Bogus or not bogus?: TBD at E3.

21 somewhat makes sence, but not really. (confuzzled)

although some of the things mentioned have been mentioned before... and if you dig through enough nintendo PR and other developers letting thier tongue slip just a bit, you could easily pick up on some of this.

interesting none the less

its all going to be rumors for now most developers have 2 or 3 console designs before they finally release a final version of their next gen console PS2 did this.

Nintendo DID say they were gonna revolutionize the controller. My theory is that the right side will be some sort of touch screen interface allowing games/users to set up any button control they want as well as display information to the user

The release date from this rumor is interesting; nintendo has previously stated that they felt the gamecube was powerful enough for another generation and wouldn't be releasing a new console until 2008. Guess they realized the suicide in such a decision.

Im really looking foward to this. I know Game Cube didnt have the largest selection of games, but they sure were fun games as far as Im concerned. Alot of people ask why I picked one up and thats the only answer I have for them. Nintendo makes FUN Games, and thats all there is to it. I think Ive spent more time on my game cube than my other 2 consoles and I have fewer games for it.

Well...most of it sounds a little far fetched. But we'll see...Nintendo always pulls something revolutionary out of their @$$ every few years...

no if MS didn't want to go with xbox2 because it sounds less than ps3, wouldn't a nintendo 21 sound less than a nintendo 64? or now the xbox360

Are these companies now going to just make up numbers to add to the their product names that actually give you no idea of what generation they are?

I could see the Nintendo 21, kinda...

If they're shooting for an early 2006/Christmas 2005 release, then 2006 - 1985 (NES release date in the US) = 21. 21 years of consoles from them... but in Japan that wouldn't work since the Famicom hit the shelves in 1983.

Hmm. Mysterious, either way.
