Dumb Question(s) about "Source" HL2 & CS

OK, I'm sure this is going to sound like a dumb question. But here it is.

In my steam account I have

Half Life 2
Half Life 2: Death Match
Half Life 2: Source
Counter-Strike: Source
Code Name Gordon

This is the first time I've encountered the "Source" part. I think I kind of get it's for altering/modding or something, but WTF is it. Why do I need it? Why isn't the "Half Life 2" all I have. What is Code Name Gordon? How does is compare to HL2 "regular"? What are the differences (summed up). Is it a different game? is it the same game? Do I have Counter-Strike single player? (can't find it) Can I change game type on Counter-Strike Source? Are "Source" games more limited and less content than the not source ones? Are the "Source" games the same game as the reg versions? Do they make a reg version of CounterStrike or is this source one the only one right now??????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????

OK this is new to me, never played games on PC that had all this as main features from disc install. Trying to figure it out. Please Tell WTF the whole idea is about this "Source Business".

HL2 - HL2 Game

HL2: DM - Multiplayer Deathmatch in the HL2 world

(this should read this) Half-Life: Source - Original Half-Life "redone" in the source engine

CS: Source - HL2's multiplayer aspect: aka Counter-Strike on the new engine

Code Name Gordon - side scrolling fan created game based on HL2.

You can still play CS 1.6 (the original version) but you have to download that also.

"redone" What sort of things did they redo? storyline or physical stuff like maps and stuff?

"CS: Source" So it's the same as Regular CS (the one you buy seperate) but with the new engine (kind of like HL2 wearing CS clothes, is that right?)

"Code Name Gordon" So fans made it, is it a continuation of the story or a more parrallel story like a different mission or something?

I get the CS 1.6 part. I'm going to download it and play it. It's free for me right, since I own HL2?

CS 1.6 would only be free for you if you bought the silver steam package, which sounds like you did, sence you have hl:s, Half-Life: Source is the same original game, in the source engine, nothing really was redone at all.
code name gordon, ignore that, its pretty dumb :/
CS: Source is 1.6 on the source engine, but its quite different, and a lot of cs 1.6 players don't like it, but i do :/, course i hate cs but
