I don't know about you guys, but I like to plug-in to the Old-School classics just as often as the new ones. What are your favorites, and if you're hardcore like me, what are you playing ATM?

For me -

CastleVania IV for the Super Nintendo

Shadow Dancer - The Legend of Shinobi for the Sega Genesis

Dune II for the PC

Sonic and Knuckles for the Sega Genesis

Donkey Kong Jr. for the Atari 7800

Just to name a few. Post your favorites, discuss them...that's what it's here for!

Not going to post sexy classic pictures because I have way too many pictures to post and/or I'm not playing any classics at the moment. I remember playing Sonic 3 and Knuckles and Sonic and Knuckles to death though. I got all the Chaos emeralds for each character and their uber form. Hyper Sonic was insanely fast! Loved it.

I recently fired up Mega Man X3 for kicks on ZSNES. I got bored though

I knew you'd be the first, NS...you appreciate the ROOTS! w00t! I've beaten the game fully as well...Hyper Knuckles is my favorite. Smash into the walls and BOOM!!!! All enemies dead!

I posted the pristine pics of yesteryear to remind some of the younger, less informed members of the quality that is old-school gaming.

More random retrogaming:

I catch myself playing the 1942 vertical shooter games a lot as well. UN Squadron was also a great game and still is. Games these days rarely test the reflexes and amount of concentration required in games such as these vertical/horizontal scrolling shooters!

R-Type 3 was frickin hard! Thank goodness, they gave you unlimited continues. Another classic horizontal shooter is Metal Slug.

My son inherited all my old classic games, we still play quite a bit of Streetfighter together. Also loved the Mario 1, 2, & 3 for the NES. How about Toejam and Earl, anyone remeber that classic?

Chrono Trigger on the SNES for me, along with Bio Menace, Battle Toads, One Must Fall, Hugo 1,2,3, Sonic, Ecco the Dolphin, Keen 1,2,3, Dreams, Duke 1,2,etc, etc.

I'm more into adventure games, so I'd go for Monkey Island (all of'em!), Grim Fandago, The Dig, Sam'n'Max, Indiana Jones 4 and the fate of Atlantis, Zak McKraken, Day of the Tentacle, King's Quest 6, Space Quest 5,6, Legend of Kyrandia 1,2,3.... there are so many good old adventure games to mention here

Other favorites are of course Doom 1,2 and Quake 1, Duke Nukem 3D, Metroid, R-Type, Mario, The Lost Vikings 1,2, Eye of the Beholder, Lands of Lore, Dune 2 and many many others...

And Blakestone, Journey Man Project (the first ever photo realistic game, if it wasn't for this, there'd be no Doom 3), Littil Divil, Mutant Penguins, DBZ (all old ones on the SNES), Drakan: Order of the flame (not that old, but old enough

), and man, don't even get me started on all those 1st gen cartridge games....

DOS games, played toooooo many to remember them all, but in the back of my memory, one's that I didn't add up there are Skunny Kart Racing, Wacky Karts, Tank Wars(this one was esp. good when you had a bunch of friends over lol) , Body Blows, Zone 66, Doom (like duh hey

), Raptor, Indy 500, some Accolade racing games that I can't remember that were only in blue, cyan, purple and black, Pac-man, Formula 1, Asteroids, Crystal Caves.... lol, if I keep going on like this, I'll probably never stop!
